Get a load of this cast photo for The Walking Dead (TV) and get even more excited about the impending series. (io9)

Or maybe you’d prefer to read an interview with Walking Dead ( TV) co-executive producer/episode director Michelle MacLaren? (Bloody Disgusting)

Best yet, have a gander at an interview with Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. Warning: despite being a good read, it’s kinda spoilery if you aren’t totally caught up with the comic series. (Things from Another World)

New book on the horizon! Alden Bell’s The Reapers are Angels is a Southern Gothic tale of a character born in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. You can pick it up August 3.

The Dead Rising videogame-to-film adaptation Zombrex Dead Rising Sun will be released as series of eight episodes starting August 4 and ending August 25 — if you have Xbox Live. The rest of you will have to get it from the website a week later per episode. (The Feed)

Speaking of Dead Rising, North America gets no zombie action figure in its Dead Rising 2 special edition. Boo! (Kotaku)

This preview of of Greek zombie romp Evil in the Time of Heroes makes it sound promising! (Ain’t It Cool News)

A short test animation for Night of the Living Dead: Origins, the animated NotLD prequel/reboot from Zeb De Soto, have hit hte net. It’s embedded below for you. (Dread Central)

Feeling thinky? This fine essay on why the zombie apocalypse meme is so popular should make your brain parts happy. (Gamecrashers)

If, on the other hand, you’re of the opinion that the zombie genre jumped the shark years ago, this essay on why zombies are so over is probably more your speed (and also, if you feel that way, why are you wasting your time here of all places?) (What’s the Rumpus?)

Finally, a bit of housekeeping. Good news! There’s a new logo (surely you’ve noticed?) and it is awesome. Thanks to Alert for the kick-ass design work. Bad news! I have jury duty tomorrow, then am leaving town for a few days. This may mean no posts tomorrow … depends on if I get dismissed (maybe I will wear an extra gory zombie shirt to help facilitate that…). In any case, news should be back on track Monday (I hope, cross fingers), but no promise re: Fashion Zombie. All depends on what time I get back in town Monday and how exhausted I am.
