We drop the f-bomb on more than one occasion and talk about some of the more graphic images of The Walking Dead in show and comic form, as well as some of the other things we discuss. Just a heads up for those of you listening at your work cubes—wear headphones.

Alright, that’s it, go listen to it and let us know what you think in the comments. Tell us what you’d like to see from us on future shows, make fun of my impressions, or ask some questions for next week’s show.

Wow, Cory really loves rape. I didn’t see that coming.
I think that there’s a 2-3 year statute of limitations on spoilers. If you haven’t seen something in that period of time, you don’t care about it enough to not have it spoiled.
Have you guys thought about doing a best of 2010 segment? Not necessarily stuff that just came out this year, but maybe stuff that you’ve just seen, heard, experienced for the first time this year.

  2. Not sure how I gave the impression of being pro-rape … to clarify, I maintain, at all times, a stringent ANTI-rape stance.

Like the idea of best of 2010. We may tackle that in the coming weeks.

  3. ZOMFG Zombambeenos says:

While a lot of care was taken to avoid any anti-women’s speak, the Lori conversation pretty much turned out as ‘bitch asked for it’. And while I could condone such a stance if it was just yelling and a slap or whatnot, but sexual assault crosses the line of regardless of whatever, Shane is a dangerous douchebag.

  4. I’d like to take a minute to address this. Just for the record, I was the one with an anti Lori stance and not Cory. I just don’t want him getting the blame. : )

It’s not at all a “bitch asked for it” stance. Shane is most definitely a dangerous douchebag as you put it. (nicely too btw) My complaint stemmed from the differences in the comics and the series.

In the comics, Lori spent one night with Shane out of fear and the need for companionship and immediately regretted it, and Shane was so twisted inside that it drove him mad.

In the series, Rick was gone for no more than two weeks and Lori was definitely enjoying her time with Shane, which honestly leads us to believe that in the TV universe things were going on behind Rick’s back before the outbreak, or that Lori was truly not interested in Rick anymore, but perhaps they were just together for Carl’s sake. The pilot introduced this theory in the first five minutes for that matter.

However when Rick returned, Lori completely flipped a 180, and did not only deny Shane, but angrily blamed him for something that as we saw in the flashback he clearly did the best he could with. She also cast him out of her bed and did several other things that you shouldn’t do to a mentally unstable giant for lack of a better term.

Lori was a victim and Shane is a monster, but the television portrayal of Lori makes her much worse a person than her comic portrayal, and that’s just the fact of the situation. That’s where most of our debate stemmed from.

Just wanted to clear that up.

  5. Zombie Shakespeare says:

I was just kidding, by the way, I don’t believe either of you to rape enthusiasts.
Personally, I think they should have stopped Shane at the attempted kiss. They built up sympathies for him through the flashback, but then made him a clear villain again with the crotch grab. I wish they would have made Lori more ambivalent about the situation: still having genuine feelings for Shane and perhaps siding with him on some group decisions against Rick.

P.S. for the next podcast please discuss your thoughts on abortion, stem cell research, and which religion is right.

  6. I’m a fence riding expert…

    Politics – I’m a right wing liberal

Religion – two words… “ghost dad”

  7. Cory, stop using the f word. What if little tykes wanted to listen?

I was not overly impressed with the final episode. The show is too much laddy-da and not enough: “let us blow things up!” My childish enthusiasm for the show wanes, when doctors give up, Rick has not seen through Lori’s infidelity (scratch marks for God’s sake), and the show seems like a car ride to Disneyland. There needs to be some intensity in season 2, but, having not read the comics, I do not know what to expect. Hopefully, it gets better.

    *Nerd Alert*

There was a continuity error in the final frames of the show. The only vehicles at the CDC were from Rick’s group. Really? There is a zombie apocalypse and no one in Atlanta thinks to go to the nearby CDC?? There would be thousands of cars there, in reality. But, I guess budgets sometimes hamper production. This is a minor detail that feels like a stick poke in the eye.

*audio issues only in first 10 mins’ for me (tingy).
