ZMM 4.0: Zombie Movie Marathon 4.0

Zombie Movie Marathon 4
It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since last year’s Zombie Movie Marathon month, but here we are, with June just days away. Due to a lack of time I had considered skipping the marathon this year, until I realized, that’s just crazy talk. So, as it has been the past three years, June will be a month of undead action: 30 days, 30 movies, countless undead. Let the rejoicing commence.

This year, my Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse co-pilot Johnathon Brock will be joining me. We’ll be watching the same movie, on the same days, sometime even at the same time (maybe). Instead of last year’s daily updates (definitely no time for that), we’ll be doing a once-a-week podcast wrap up of that week’s zombie films. We may also live blog or live tweet some of them, if there’s interest and we can work out the logistics.

We’re also forgoing the themes of the last two years, apart from a general theme of “Johnathon catches up on the classics,” since he’s somehow missed seeing a number of all-time greats (such as the original Dawn of the Dead—for shame, Johnathon, for shame). This will mean a lot of repeats from past years and other, non-marathon viewing times for me, but I’m down with that. A lot of these are, after all, classics, totally worth seeing again. And I’ll also be catching up on some recent stuff that I missed out on (such as Resident Evil: Afterlife—for shame, Cory, for shame). And we’ll be filling in the cracks with stuff that’s available on Netflix Instant Watch, stuff from my voluminous catalog, and stuff recommended by you, our faithful readers. After the break, you can find the list of this year’s movies, both those that we’ve settled on and those still in the “maybe” pile. And please, leave us a comment about what else we should watch this year.

Lucio Fulci’s Zombie
Shaun of the Dead
Diary of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead (original)
Dead Alive
Aaah! Zombies
Dance of the Dead
Dylan Dog
Return of the Living Dead
28 Weeks Later
Flight of the Living Dead
Dead Snow
La Horde
Dead Space: Downfall

Quarantine 2: Terminal
The Dead Next Door
The Video Dead
REC 2/REC3: Genesis (If we can lay hands on a screener for 3, we’ll do 2 as well)
Blood Creek
Last of the Living
Zombie Women of Satan
Zombies Zombies Zombies

That’s what we’ve got so far. Feel free to weigh in with suggestions on which of the “maybes” we’ve got so far, other movies we should add, or tips on where to snag a REC 3 or Quarantine 2 screener (especially if you are one of the makers/marketers of those films).

Fido. You must consider “Fido.” On it’s way to being a classic, IMO. Cheers.

  2. […] I just want to direct your attention to Cory’s post regarding the Fourth Annual Zombie Movie M… which takes place in June, just two short weeks away. We’re pulling out all the stops and […]

Am I to believe that Brocko has never seen Zombie?!?! Good lord!
How are you getting your hands on Quarantine 2? I’m envious.
Have you seen DIEner…(get it?)? I highly recommend it. It should be on the list. Also, Mutants, if you haven’t seen it already. And move The Dead Next Door to the confirmed list, that’s a fun movie.
Really glad to see that the Movie Marathon lives on! Good luck guys.

  4. It was a made for TV movie/mini series but I have to recommend Dead Set if you can get your hands on a copy in time!

  5. Jond76 says:

Be sure to check out Mutants. It’s out on Netflix instant. I liked it better than The Horde. I’m sure you could shoehorn Lifeforce in there somehow! Ha ha

  6. Wanda says:

where can i view the zombie movie marathon? on cable? what channel?

  7. @Wanda – If you want to view along with us, Netflix Instant Watch is your best bet. Most of the films we are doing can be found there. We still don’t have a TV channel to play the marathon—maybe next year!

  8. […] officially June now, and that means that the fourth annual Zombie Movie Marathon Month is underway. Tonight Cory and I are going to be watching La Horde on Netflix instant watch. Looking forward to […]
