Like planning ahead? Well, zombies in Saugerties, New York will be zombie crawling October 16. There are plans for a videographer to document it, prizes for the best dead celebrity look-a-like, the best executed zombie and best pin-up zombie, and lots of boozing. Mmm, booze.

I have jury duty tomorrow, then am leaving town for a few days. This may mean no posts tomorrow … depends on if I get dismissed (maybe I will wear an extra gory zombie shirt to help facilitate that…). In any case, news should be back on track Monday (I hope, cross fingers), but no promise re: Fashion Zombie. All depends on what time I get back in town Monday and how exhausted I am.

A car full of revelers dressed as zombies crashed Friday near Portland, Oregon. No one was seriously hurt, but ti took witnesses a while to figure that out, thanks to the makeup. (KGW)

San Diego Comic Con attendees will have a shit-ton of zombie events to attend, including panels on Resident Evil: Afterlife, Max Brooks, Dead Rising 2 and zombie fiction — and that’s just what’s happening on Saturday, July 24! (Dread Central)

If you are going to San Diego Comic Con you must not miss the awesome Walking Dead panel Friday July 23 at 11:30 a.m., with most of the cast, director Frank Darabont, creator Robert Kirkman, effects guy Greg Nicotero and pretty much every other goddamn important person on the show, They’ll be talking, answering questions and, oh yeah, showing an exclusive preview! Max Brooks (The Zombie Survival Guide, World War Z) does another great, must-read interview. So go read it. (Onion AV Club)

It’s kind of old to be news, but here’s an interesting article on some scientific reasons to believe in zombies (and other supernatural beasties). (Mental Floss)

Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) is playing Chris Redfield in the upcoming Resident Evil: Afterlife. In this interview, Miller talks about the character, the action working with Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson and more. (Fangoria)

The sequel to low-budget Greek zombie romp Evil (review here) is Evil: In the Time of Heroes and it’s showing at this year’s Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal. There are pictures and a trailer. The trailer you can find embedded below, and it looks to be at least as ridiculous and over the top as its predecessor. I’m suddenly looking forward to this one. (Bloody Disgusting)

Europe will get a special edition of Dead Rising 2 with a ten-inch zombie tourist action figure. DO want! Wonder if the US will get one too? Oh, and you can also get a look at the cover art if that sort of thing excites you. (Kotaku)

If you were thinking epic Western open-world videogame Red Dead Redemption just needed zombies to make it perfect, you will be very pleased to hear that one of its four DLC packs adds zombies to the game. (Kotaku)

Fangoria rounds up a bunch of horror-related panels at the upcoming San Diego Comic Con, including panels by Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman and a panel on Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated. (Fangoria)

Get the lowdown on an intriguing/disturbing novel called The Loving Dead by Amelia Beamer, which casts the zombie apocalypse as an STD that creates horny zombies. Icky. (Buy Zombie)

Fans of Dead Space will get a prequel to Dead Space 2 that takes place just before the events of the second game. It’s an arcade/puzzle/interactive comic thing (don’t ask me, I just work here) called Dead Space Ignition and it’s coming this fall to a console system near you (presumably in your living room/bedroom/rumpus room). Budget action-RPG Fort Zombie got a major update, full of bug fixes and new content. If that sounds intriguing, make sure to check out the developers Q&A I posted awhile back. (Examiner.com)

Ohio metal act the Devil Wears Prada is working on a zombie-apocalypse themed EP. (FEARnet)

A zombie hunting werewolf falls in love in the paranormal romance novel Zombie Moon, by Lori Devoti. (Buy Zombie)

Excited about the anime zombie apocalypse series High School of the Dead? This preview should get you even more excited. (Hallucinogenic Java)

A new trailer has hit the net for the “zombies on a college campus at Christmas break” film A Cadaver Christmas. Looks like it could be decent. It’s embedded below for yoru viewing pleasure. (Quiet Earth)
