Fashion Zombie: Zombie protest apparel

Posted by Cory Casciato On March - 8 - 2010

Today in Denver the weather turned gray and cold after a week’s stretch of nice days lured me into a false sense of warm-weather security. The nasty outside my window got me thinking about my dire need for a fashionable zombie hoodie and lo and behold, today’s Fashion Zombie entry. It’s from the ever-amusing minds at Think Geek, who offer this lovely zombie-rights protest hoodie. It’ll set you back about $40, but you’ll look good and zombie-aware and stay warm. It’s also available on a T-shirt (see the image below, which also shows the design a little better).

Fashion Zombie: ZomBronco

Posted by Cory Casciato On March - 1 - 2010

If there’s one thing I love almost as much as zombies, it is the Denver Broncos. And this excellent shirt brings those two great loves of my life together with a dash of excellent, old-school Bronco flair. I believe it’s actually called “Bring the D Back!” but I can’t help but call it the ZomBroncos shirt (it also reminds me of the awesome zombie demon horse at DIA, Denver’s coolest piece of public art). I can’t wait to wear it to a home game next season. You can buy one for yourself at Filthe.net for $20. They also have a couple of other excellent zombie-themed designs.

Fashion Zombie: Undead propaganda

Posted by Cory Casciato On February - 22 - 2010

Communism and zombies, back from the dead and together at last. Today’s shirt comes to us from Teefury, where shirts appear for sale for a single day then disappear to never be seen again (except on the bodies of the people that bought and wear them, naturally). In other words, if you like this design that mashes up old Communism recruiting slogans with the walking dead, you need to act now. In just more than nine hours, it will be off the market forever. It’s only $9, if that helps. I’m buying one.

Fashion Zombie: How the world ends

Posted by Cory Casciato On February - 15 - 2010

Sure, we’ve all got our zombie apocalypse survival plans worked out, but does your plan account for a zombie army receiving air support from UFOs and pterodactyls, led by a vampire riding a Tyrannosaur? I didn’t think so. And that’s why today’s zombie shirt is so important, since it reminds us to consider extreme possibilities. Look at it this way: if you prepare for vampire-led, UFO & dinosaur supported zombie hordes, you’re going to be sitting pretty if the old-school, mindless gut-munchers are all that appear. Am I right?

You can get this fine shirt from Threadless any time, but if you buy it today (February 15, 2010) you can get it for the low, low price of $10. If you want to see it in action (i.e. on an actual shirt being worn by an actual person), you can find a pic after the break.

Fashion Zombie: Obama vs the zombie

Posted by Cory Casciato On February - 8 - 2010

Few things in life are as awesome as a t-shirt featuring President Obama punching a zombie in the face. It’s the work of an Etsy designer who goes by the name of tinaseamonster (from an illustration by Chris Piers) and if you act now, you can probably order one of the latest batch before it sells out. Presumably, there will be more later, but why wait? She also has a bunch of other great zombie-themed stuff, so go check out her store.

My favorite zombie things

Posted by Cory Casciato On February - 4 - 2010

Today is the one-year anniversary of the site! So, to celebrate, I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite zombie things — the stuff that I use, look at or think about every single day. I’m not going to cover my favorite movies, books or games here — those are amply covered in other posts and each of those categories is probably deserving of its own dedicated list. These are the other things — the little zombie accoutrements, ephemera and oddities that make every day in the Casciato household a zombie day. And consequently, many of the things that make my fiancée a little crazy (she does not love zombies).

Denver does zombies

Zombies in love

Zombies in love

I’m proud to say that my hometown of Denver, Colorado is quite a zombie town. We just had our fourth annual zombie walk (more than 4,000 attendees, if reports are to be believed) and, the very same day, there was a zombies’ engagement party.

What? Zombies need love, too.

Well, it turned out the zombie engagement party was actually an art show, but since it was largely horror and zombie themed art, it was still awesome. And I got some fine photos of both the party and the zombie walk. You can see some of the best of them, including a video slideshow of the zombie walk, after the break.

Google Poem: “I am the Walking Apocalypse”

Posted by Cory Casciato On October - 5 - 2009

cautionzombies

What is an apocalypse in the night of the living dead?

Zombies may be real.

Where will you be when the zombie apocalypse comes?

2012 Nazi zombie apocalypse,

doublebear zombie.

Are you ready for a zombie attack, Uncle Sam?

I am the walking apocalypse.

That slice of genius is an original poem on the nature of zombie apocalypse, courtesy of Google and you, the visitors of this site. What I’ve done is culled the most intriguing, poetic and weirdest search terms used to find this site in the month of September. I’ve added nothing but a bit of punctuation and a few capital letters. I also selected and organized the snippets, of course. Each line is a separate search term. The image is essentially unrelated, just something I found online a while ago. It seemed to fit. Enjoy!

Godzilla and an alien face the zombie apocalypse

Posted by Cory Casciato On September - 24 - 2009

Godzilla doesn’t really remember what it was like before the zombies came.

Occasionally, he will get a flash of memory, like the smell of juniper, or the sound of children in a swimming pool.

But it fades once the next bullet is fired.

Memory is a luxury.

The zombies come.

What can I possibly add to that? Nothing, that’s what. But I’ll tell you this: I wasted a good two hours on this guy’s Tumbr site, I am your Canadian Boyfriend, and I promise you you’ll see more of his stuff here at some point. You can also find this excellent cartoon in its original context here.

“What a Wonderful World” meets Left 4 Dead

Posted by Cory Casciato On August - 20 - 2009

This has been bouncing around the ‘nets for a day or so, and I finally got around to watching it, thus becoming inspired to share it with you fine people. Pretty funny stuff — the ironic juxtaposition between the song and the video is great and works amazingly well. It’s two minutes of zombie ridiculousness that will brighten your day!
