Fashion Zombie: Zombie meme!

Posted by Cory Casciato On August - 30 - 2010

Nothing says “zombie” like something that’s back from the dead, even if the thing that’s back from the dead is an ages-old (in Internet terms) meme such as “All your base are belong to us.” Remember that one? (If not, use Google to edumacate yourself already!) And here it is, back from the dead and freshly zombified in the form of a “All your brains are belong to us” zombie shirt.

Fashion Zombie: Kill or be food!

Posted by Cory Casciato On August - 23 - 2010

This week’s Fashion Zombie pick has a simple, clear message: Kill, or be food. When the inevitable zombie apocalypse comes, that’s rule number one! And the design leans toward the relatively subtle side — well, there’s no gore or viscera on the shirt, anyway. Just a little crest over your heart with crossed chainsaws under the word Dezombifier and that simple, inspirational message (plus the company’s initials, TTOFS).

The back features your nutritional info, which is a useful shopping guide for any zombies on the prowl. You can see images of the back, as well as a shirt picture that shows the design in contest, below. Or you can head directly to the Try This on for Size website and buy the Dezombifier shirt for $15. Whatever makes you happy.

Fashion Zombie: Zombie miners union

Posted by Cory Casciato On August - 16 - 2010

This week we take a look at a pro-labor zombie sentiment, in the form of this fine poster T-shirt (that is, a poster-style design on a T-shirt) advertising for the Zombie miners union local 432. Hey, zombie labor needs to collectively bargain, just like everyone else does. Plus, you can pair this with your “Join us for a better death” shirt for a week of good ol’ fashioned socialist zombie sentiment.

This shirt (designed by Mark Bloom, if the name on the poster is to be believed) is another Etsy find, from the mind and store of Etsy user Zed’s Zombie Ranch. You can own it for $20 + $3 shipping in the US. A little steep, perhaps, but it’s a DIY/indie thing, so it’s not like you’re being ripped off by some soulless megacorp. And presumably, it’s all made with unionized zombie labor, so there’s that.

Fashion Zombie: Breaking in

Posted by Cory Casciato On August - 9 - 2010

I like to call this week’s Fashion Zombie “breaking in” and it’s got something of a double meaning. On the one hand, it’s clearly a zombie breaking in to your carefully fortified house. On the other, it’s one of the premiere selections from Above the Pants, the new T-shirt wing of the excellent zombie site Buy Zombie. So, you see, they’re kind of breaking in to the T-shirt business. UPDATE: The art is by Byron Rempel of IDrawZombies.com.

Ahem. Pardon my predilection for terrible puns. I love them almost as much as I love zombies.

Fashion Zombie: Zombee

Posted by Cory Casciato On August - 2 - 2010

When you need your zombies adorably cute, look no further than today’s Fashion Zombie pick: the Zombee. This sad little undead insect is sure to buzz his way right into your heart. Heck, my wife might even like this one (I’ll ask her when she gets home). If you have a taste for terrible puns, as I do, you’re sure to love it even more.

You can wear the sad little zombee for a variety of prices. Head over to the zombee’s home at Zazzle and price it out on anything from a “value T-shirt” (~$15) to an American Apparel (~$23). Pricey? Yes. But what price cuteness? Oh, and check out designer lulubean’s other stuff, too — no more zombies, but some groovy designs based on your favorite Internet memes and more.

Fashion Zombie: Zombie dreams T

Posted by Cory Casciato On July - 26 - 2010

The moment I saw this shirt, I knew it was this week’s Fashion Zombie pick. It’s titled “Every Night I Have the Same Dream” and I love zombie dreams. Plus, it’s a comic, on a shirt! How can you go wrong?

It’s yet another Threadless design, but I assure you, I am not unduly favoring them. They just have a fuckload of awesome shirts. This one is $20, a bit over my preferred price range but I may have to make an exception for reasons of undue awesomeness. There’s more to the story, too — you can see the back of the design below, plus an image of the shirt on a model.

Fashion Zombie: Dead-end job

Posted by Cory Casciato On July - 19 - 2010

For most of us, work sucks — that’s a no-brainer. Today’s shirt is a great way to tell your boss exactly what you think of your place of employment (and possibly get yourself fired, depending on the dress code). Or wear it on your days off to protect your continued employment while venting via a fashionable exercise in bloody T-shirt expression.

Its official title seems to be No Brainer and you can buy it from Disturbia Clothing for £20 — I think that’s about $35 in US dollars. Pricey? You bet. But also kind of awesome. Especially if you imagine “no brainer” being said in an English accent. everything sounds smarter spoken with an English accent.

Fashion Zombie: I Survived the Zombie Apocalypse

Posted by Cory Casciato On July - 12 - 2010

When it comes to zombie shirts, sometimes I like subtle and sometimes I like not-subtle. And there’s nothing subtle about this sweet image of a busty babe hacking away at the zombie hordes with a machete. It’s a design called “I Survived the Zombie Apocalypse” by Jason Mohnsters of Thread Cult Theatre that I found on Emptees. You can own it for the reasonable price of $15 and it comes with a comic booklet that, presumably, will fill you in on the backstory of our lovely, zombie-killing heroine.

Fashion Zombie: Zombies in Wonderland

Posted by Cory Casciato On July - 5 - 2010

One of the great things about zombies is how well they “mashup.” Not mashup as in mashed potato, but mashup as in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, where they mix a classic book (or whatever) with the all-time classic of zombies. Or, in this case, mashing up zombies with Alice in Wonderland, a far, far more entertaining and accessible work than Pride and Prejudice (sorry Jane Austen fans, but you know it’s the truth). And today’s shirt has everything you’d want from an Zombie/Wonderland mashup: zombie Red Queen, a decapitated white rabbit, a scary-ass Cheshire Cat looming over it all and more.

It’s yet another Threadless design, and I know I feature a lot of their shirts, but hey: they are awesome. This one is brand new and it will cost you $20 to own it (or $45 for the same design on a hoodie), but remember, they frequently have sales if that’s a bit too steep. See it on an actual shirt being worn by a real human being below.

Fashion Zombie: Uncle Sam, zombie

Posted by Cory Casciato On June - 28 - 2010

Just in time for Independence Day, Fashion Zombie presents this thoroughly patriotic zombie T, for everyone who ever wanted to say, “I love America and I love zombies and I really love zombie America.” Or, you know, whatever it is a corpsified version of the iconic Uncle Sam image says to you. What can I say, it’s the most holiday-themed/patriotic zombie shirt I could find.

It’s also cheap. It’s one of 6dollarshirts.com‘s titular $6 shirts. So you can own it for about the same cost as a burrito. Heck, at that price, maybe you can afford the rush shipping necessary to get it to you in time for the July 4 holiday! I’ve never owned a 6dollarshirt.com shirt, so I can’t speak to the quality. But hey, $6. You can find a larger version of the image below.
