The Inevitable Zombie Apocalypse

When you need your zombies adorably cute, look no further than today’s Fashion Zombie pick: the Zombee. This sad little undead insect is sure to buzz his way right into your heart. Heck, my wife might even like this one (I’ll ask her when she gets home). If you have a taste for terrible puns, as I do, you’re sure to love it even more.

You can wear the sad little zombee for a variety of prices. Head over to the zombee’s home at Zazzle and price it out on anything from a “value T-shirt” (~$15) to an American Apparel (~$23). Pricey? Yes. But what price cuteness? Oh, and check out designer lulubean’s other stuff, too — no more zombies, but some groovy designs based on your favorite Internet memes and more.

The moment I saw this shirt, I knew it was this week’s Fashion Zombie pick. It’s titled “Every Night I Have the Same Dream” and I love zombie dreams. Plus, it’s a comic, on a shirt! How can you go wrong?

It’s yet another Threadless design, but I assure you, I am not unduly favoring them. They just have a fuckload of awesome shirts. This one is $20, a bit over my preferred price range but I may have to make an exception for reasons of undue awesomeness. For most of us, work sucks — that’s a no-brainer. Today’s shirt is a great way to tell your boss exactly what you think of your place of employment (and possibly get yourself fired, depending on the dress code). Or wear it on your days off to protect your continued employment while venting via a fashionable exercise in bloody T-shirt expression.

Its official title seems to be No Brainer and you can buy it from Disturbia Clothing for £20 — I think that’s about $35 in US dollars. Pricey? You bet. But also kind of awesome. Especially if you imagine “no brainer” being said in an English accent. everything sounds smarter spoken with an English accent.

When it comes to zombie shirts, sometimes I like subtle and sometimes I like not-subtle. And there’s nothing subtle about this sweet image of a busty babe hacking away at the zombie hordes with a machete. It’s a design called “I Survived the Zombie Apocalypse” by Jason Mohnsters of Thread Cult Theatre that I found on Emptees. You can own it for the reasonable price of $15 and it comes with a comic booklet that, presumably, will fill you in on the backstory of our lovely, zombie-killing heroine.

One of the great things about zombies is how well they “mashup.” Not mashup as in mashed potato, but mashup as in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, where they mix a classic book (or whatever) with the all-time classic of zombies. Or, in this case, mashing up zombies with Alice in Wonderland, a far, far more entertaining and accessible work than Pride and Prejudice (sorry Jane Austen fans, but you know it’s the truth). And today’s shirt has everything you’d want from an Zombie/Wonderland mashup: zombie Red Queen, a decapitated white rabbit, a scary-ass Cheshire Cat looming over it all and more.

It’s yet another Threadless design, and I know I feature a lot of their shirts, but hey: they are awesome. This one is brand new and it will cost you $20 to own it (or $45 for the same design on a hoodie), but remember, they frequently have sales if that’s a bit too steep. See it on an actual shirt being worn by a real human being below.

Just in time for Independence Day, Fashion Zombie presents this thoroughly patriotic zombie T, for everyone who ever wanted to say, “I love America and I love zombies and I really love zombie America.” Or, you know, whatever it is a corpsified version of the iconic Uncle Sam image says to you. What can I say, it’s the most holiday-themed/patriotic zombie shirt I could find.

It’s also cheap. It’s one of 6dollarshirts.com‘s titular $6 shirts.So you can own it for about the same cost as a burrito. Heck, at that price, maybe you can afford the rush shipping necessary to get it to you in time for the July 4 holiday! I’ve never owned a 6dollarshirt.com shirt, so I can’t speak to the quality. But hey, $6. You can find a larger version of the image below.

Some things are so self-evident they go without saying. But sometimes it’s fun to say those things anyway. And this shirt shouts one of those things loud and clear! Nazi zombies must die. I mean, they’re not only Nazis, they’re zombies and somehow the combination is worse.

You can own this proclamation of common sense for $21.55 (usually $24, on sale at the moment!). Yeah, it’s a little steep as far as shirts go, but they are American Apparel shirts (I like my AA shirts, personally) with a lot of colors printed on, so… There are also a lot of options as far as where you want it printed and what kind of shirt, which is kind of nice if you only like V-necks or something.

In the real world, the police have a hard job. In a world with zombies … well, police have the hardest job. Think about it: the police are almost invariably the front line against the walking dead. By the time they call the army out, it’s usually too late (i.e. time to cut and run for an easily fortified mall) but the cops? They’re there when the first shambling biter wanders out of the morgue, and they don’t know it’s a zombie until it’s too late. Yikes. That’s why it’s important to show our support to the men and women in blue who work in the world’s zombie-infested cities. Thus, today I bring you this fabulous Raccoon City Police Department T-shirt.

Like our last Raccoon City shirt, this one can easily fly under the radar if you feel the need to wear some zombie gear to a meet-up with the girlfriend’s parents (for instance). They’ll just think you’re showing support for a small-town police department, civil-minded youngster that you are. You don’t have to be a big fan of Kevin Smith’s work to appreciate this week’s Fashion Zombie. Hell, you don’t even have to know who the guy is, despite the fact this week’s shirt originated in his film Zack & Miri Make a Porno (anyone out there actually seen that? I gave up on his career after the abysmal Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back). Why is that? Because every zombie fan worth a damn knows all about the Monroeville Mall’s importance in zombie history. And it doesn’ t hurt that I really like the shirt design itself. Subtle, yet clearly zombietastic.

You can own this shirt for $18, which is a little steep in my opinion. Still, it is a Monroeville Zombies shirt … You can also get it in hoodie, hockey jersey and/or bumper sticker form if you poke around Smith’s merch site.

Ever feel like a friend or a loved one is a mindless slave to Apple, joining their undead army for a march on open computing standards and a free, boundaryless Internet? Or maybe that’s you? Well, here’s your shirt! Anti-Apple sentiment aside, it’s also a decent riff on a ubiquitous advertising campaign and it has a zombie carrying his own head, something we can all appreciate.

If you want it, you’ll have to act fast: it is one of Teefury‘s shirts-of-the-day and today is that day. Your options are few: Colorwise, ladies get the red one, gents get the green. At time of posting you have just about seven and a half hours to pull the trigger. It’s only $9 and I have been very happy with all my Teefury shirts quality-wise, if that helps at all.  Me, I’m kind of on the fence, myself. I don’t love the color and while the design is cool, it doesn’t blow me away. What do you all think? Should I buy one?
