Zombie carwash

Posted by Cory Casciato On June - 1 - 2009

goodzombieThis weekend I got word from Matt Rouse, one of my remote zombie correspondents, of a zombie carwash in Ogden, Utah. Here’s the story in brief, in Rouse’s own words: “I had just grabbed my camera to take some product shots and thought I was dreaming when I saw a crowd of zombies holding up a sign saying ‘Zombie Carwash – $5.’  They were doing a fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes here locally.”

I have to say, $5 is a great price for a car wash, although it’s hard to know how good a job a zombie would do. Seems like they might smear a lot of blood and viscera around in the process of getting dirt off. Let’s hope these undead raised enough money to make it worth their while, but remember: in the event of an actual zombie apocalypse, do not stop at a zombie car wash. It’s just an excuse for them to smash your windows to get at the tasty meat inside — i.e. you.

After the break, three more pictures. All photos credit and copyright Matt Rouse.

Zombie food pyramid

Posted by Cory Casciato On May - 19 - 2009

zombiefoodpyramidJust because you’re a zombie is no reason to ignore the fundamentals of good nutrition. Sure, we all know the basis for an undead diet is a healthy dose of brains, but what about the rest of their meals? Well, this handy guide should show you what you need to know if you join the ranks of our living-impaired friends.

No idea who the original creator of this is, the URL imprinted in the pic is just a funny picture aggregator. If you know the original source, let me know so I can give credit where due.

Teach your children well…

Posted by Cory Casciato On May - 15 - 2009

teachthemwellOne of the zombie groups I follow turned me on to this comic last night, and I just have to say: awesome. As a father who’s had basically this same conversation with his daughter, I know how important it is to teach your kids the right values in regards to the walking dead. Seriously, you don’t want them to hesitate and maybe get bit wondering what you’d want them to do once you turn, right? You have to start young and reinforce these values as they grow up, otherwise, gods know how they’ll react when Z Day finally comes.

I grabbed this comic from its web site They All Bleed the Same (there’s a lot more stuff there, but I haven’t had a chance to look at it) and all credit and praise should be heaped upon the creator, Joseph Rintoul. His other work and contact info can be found at his studio site, Suggested Donation Studios.

Z is for zombie

Posted by Cory Casciato On May - 11 - 2009

zombiesZ is for zombies, as this useful children’s alphabet primer shows. This is what we’ll be using to teach our kids to read once the inevitable zombie apocalypse actually occurs.

This slice of awesome is the work of Ross Horsley, who has a whole lot more of these twisted definitions at his site, My First Dictionary. Drop by and tell him I sent you.

Plants vs. Zombies: the music video

Posted by Cory Casciato On May - 8 - 2009

Happy Friday. Celebrate by watching this quirky video for the newly released game Plants vs. Zombies. The song reminds me of the music for Katamari Damacy, one of my favorite games of all time (although sadly lacking in zombies) and probably the best video game soundtrack ever. And the video actually does a good job introducing you to the game. Win!

See, I know that because I got a review copy of the game last night and stayed up way too late playing it. I will have a full review out as soon as I finish putting it through its paces, but my first impressions are wholly positive. I started playing and the next thing I knew several hours of my life were missing and I had failed to do some necessary work. Damn, that’s a good game! It’s simple enough, at least early on, that anyone can play and enjoy it (I’m guessing it gets harder) and it is definitely worth a look. There is a free demo after all… or just wait until I review it, probably sometime next week.

Get more info on the game and download a trial version at the Plants vs. Zombies web site.

The inconveniences of the “Zombie Apocalypse”

Posted by Cory Casciato On May - 4 - 2009

Kirby Krackle is the self-styled “World’s First Comic Book Rock Band,” and they have produced this lovely ukelele-driven ballad about the horrific inconveniences of the zombie apocalypse. It’s a fun, clever ditty that should appeal to anyone who’s ever spent way too much time pondering what the zombie apocalypse would look like in real life.

For more info on Kirby Krackle or to buy their album, visit the band’s web site.

prideandprejudiceandzombiesI’m sure you know all about Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (if you don’t you can visit the book’s web page). The Fetid Waters are waiting

Seems that the this morning’s video game discovery has sparked a trend (well, I guess you need three for a trend). I found a link to House of the Dead‘s movie poster generator this morning. If you aren’t familiar with House of the Dead, it is a crappy light-gun zombie shooter. It was also spun off into a supposedly terrible Uwe Boll movie, which I have never seen. I’ve never been a fan of light-gun games in general or this franchise in particular so there’s not much else I can say about the actual game.

They’re making a Wii version of it, and they made this fun little movie poster generator to promote the thing. I seriously doubt I will ever play the game, but the poster maker is a great way to not work for an hour or so. I came across this on Final Girl’s blog (one of the best horror bloggers out there, if you aren’t already reading her) and she’s running some sort of contest, so if you get really inspired, send her your masterpiece. Above, you see my creation. Although I despise the movie Zombie Lake, I’ve always thought zombies from a lake held promise, so that’s the direction I took.
