UPDATE: Executive producer Frank Darabont has left the staff of The Walking Dead. No word yet on who will replace him as the showrunner, but let’s hope it’s someone good. We’ll deliver additional info as it becomes available. (Deadline)

Well I thought I had it all but apparently I missed a few Walking Dead tidbits from Comic Con.

Check out the first shot of one of the infected from the upcoming REC 3: Genesis. (Dread Central)

After the break, check out the trailer for the Mexican zombie film Los Infectados. It’s directed by Gareth Edwards, who brought us the awesome indie flick Monsters last year, which I highly recommend. (Twitch Film)

The first reported zombie case has finally been made public. A South African man has awoken after being pronounced dead and placed in the morgue for over 20 hours. These are truly the end times… or not. (Cincinnati.com)

Well I’m back from vacation and well rested so naturally I want to talk about undead fiends and the San Diego Comic Con which contained them. Bear with me because I’m going to try and catch up on all the key news from last week. So let’s get to it!

Let’s start off by diving into the MASSIVE pile of The Walking Dead news from Comic Con.

Carlos Gallardo, the producer of El Mariachi, and Kevin Eastman, the co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, have paired up to bring us Zombie Apocalypse, a working title comic book and potential screen play that looks pretty slick. (What Culture)

Speaking of comic books, it looks like the popular build a weapon zombie killing franchise Dead Rising is set to receive the comic treatment courtesy of IDW. (Gamepro)

Last Blood, the graphic novel about the war between zombies and vampires for control of the last of the human population in the post apocalyptic wastelands, is set to receive the film treatment with none other than Simon Hunter, director of The Mutant Chronicles at it’s helm. (The Film Stage)

In sadder news, Ruben Fleisher, director of last years fan favorite Zombieland, gave the bad news that Zombieland 2 is most likely a no-go due to scheduling conflicts and an unfinished script. (I Am Rogue)

The judge in the Jenna Jameson lawsuit recalled his victory ruling against her after she was a no-show in court and now it looks like a settlement may be in the cards. Who would have thought we’d have this much legal drama over Zombie Strippers? (Woodridge Patch)

Another nice little surprise at Comic Con was the trailer for the short film Stitched, about a group of soldiers who combat a deadly undead enemy in the Middle East, and written by none other than comic book legend Garth Ennis. Check it out after the break. (io9)

After the break, check out the game play trailer for Zombie Gunship, the iOS game where you command a flying assault plane trying to mow down the horde of undead scum who are aiming to take down a group of human survivors. It actually looks really good. (148apps.com)

Undead Labs spoke up and gave some more information about their upcoming zombie MMO Xbox Live exclusive games Class3 and Class4. (Gamasutra)

Issac Marion, the writer of Warm Bodies, the zombie romance that hopefully won’t be another Twilight, recently gave an interview about the film and the book. (USA Today)

Regular commenter and webseries creator Jon Dixon sent me an e-mail with a really cool zombie commercial for the new Toshiba laptops. Check it out after the break.

Gwyneth Horder-Payton, the woman behind the camera of the first episode of season two of The Walking Dead, discusses surviving the zombie apocalypse. (MTV)

Jenna Jameson’s lawyers are fighting back in the lawsuit regarding her no show appearance at a film screening of Zombie Strippers earlier this year, and making a claim that the theater owner, and his attorney, are trying to extort Jenna for cash. You be the judge… Actually don’t do that, let the judge be the judge. (Daily Herald)

Even if you don’t like tales about loveable cancer ridden meth makers, you should tune into the season premiere of Breaking Bad on July 17 to catch a special sneak peek for season two of The Walking Dead. At least set your dvr to record it. (Daily Blam)

We’ve got a new name to add to the roster for Evil Dead 4 and it’s a name that carries a fiery vengeance. It’s Diablo Cody, the woman behind Juno, and she’ll be overseeing some script re-writes for the film. (FEARnet)

After the break, check out yet another great special effects behind the scenes video of the zombie creation process for The Walking Dead. (Bloody Disgusting)

So if you follow Bruce Campbell on twitter (and you should, he’s @GroovyBruce) then you know that earlier today he confirmed Evil Dead 4 is happening. That’s breaking news folks and hopefully you heard it here first.

Also we’ve got some details on Evil Dead 4. It’s going to be a quasi remake (in the vein of Evil Dead 2 hopefully) and will NOT be directed by Sam Raimi, but it is being directed by someone whom he (or at least his studio) trusts. (Quiet Earth)

When EA bought PopCap Games recently, the loveable zombies from Plants vs Zombies decided to send a note to their newest zombie victims. (Kotaku)

The woman who will be directing episode one of the new season of The Walking Dead answers a few questions. (Dread Central)

San Diego Comic Con, which is most undoubtedly the best comic con, will be the debut show for the new Walking Dead board game. (Bleeding Cool)

For those wondering if their old busted down pc from 2008 can run Dead Island, well you’re in luck, it probably can. Check out these system requirements just to make sure though. (Device Mag)

Learn how to rip content from Youtube to your hard drive by legally downloading Night of the Living Dead (it’s public domain armchair attorneys) and enjoying the show. (Information Week)

If you’re like me, you want to be really, really prepared for the zombie apocalypse. So why don’t you follow this guy’s move and build the ultimate zombie Armageddon survival shotgun so that you’re never worried about anything except running out of ammo. (The Art of Manliness)

If you’re looking for a good way to spend the next ten to fifteen minutes, here’s the entire set of pictures and video from season two of The Walking Dead that’s currently available. (Examiner)

Speaking of The Walking Dead, after the break check out this amazing fan made teaser trailer for season two. Kirkman and Gale Anne Hurd have actually confirmed this to be fan made, for all of you who doubt it. Let’s hope the creator ends up with a job at AMC. (Dread Central)

Milla Jovovich recently discussed some zombie related nightmares that have come from years of shooting Resident Evil movies. Maybe she’ll weigh in with her thoughts on Cory’s The Zombie Dream article. (Digital Spy)

There’s finally a proper trailer for Cuba’s newest export Juan of the Dead. Check it out after the break. (Slash Film)

So the amazing bonus pre-order content for Dead Island is going to be… a digital pdf of some of the game and concept art… I think it might be time to get off the island. (Kotaku)

In better gaming news, as per Valve’s challenge, within four hours enough users (roughly twenty thousand) beat the latest expansion for Left 4 Dead 2 and Valve is going to release the re-vamped map packs early. (Kotaku)

Yet another lucky writer has gotten some hands-on game play time with Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and they’ve done a great write up about the experience. (Buzz Focus)

A local Glasgow mother is organizing a zombie walk, which should tie in nicely to World War Z and good times will ensue. (Lennox Herald)

Jenna Jameson was a no-show in her court case where she is being sued for bailing on a sponsored party at a theater during a special screening of Zombie Strippers back in March. Maybe she was just at another Perez Hilton bash… I mean she was medically exhausted, right medically exhausted… from all the porn. Hey at least we get to use the “gratuitous nudity” tag. (Woodridge Patch)

After the break, watch Captain Awesome, AKA Robert Kirkman, sit on a motor cycle, try on Rick Grime’s hat, and talk about season two of The Walking Dead. (Buy Zombie)

Just a quick update from us here at the IZA. We’ve wrapped up Zombie Movie Marathon Month and we’ll be releasing the podcast reviewing the last fifteen or so movies sometime next week. So look out for it and get your mp3 players ready! Now on with the news!

If you live in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, then you’ve got to check out the Shoot House, an establishment that lets you fire simulated weapons at real zombies for fun and survival practice. (CDA Press)

We’ve got all of the juicy details on the Blu-Ray release of the Lucio Fulci classic film Zombie, which is jam packed with shark fighting extras. (Fangoria)

There’s also some details and a release date (it’s this month!) for REC 2 on DVD. (Dread Central)

Everyone should check out this review of the script for the comic book to film adaptation of R.I.P.D. which I’m already excited about. There are a few minor spoilers, so beware. (io9)

Actor Jesse Eisenberg dropped some rather disheartening information about the Zombieland sequel during a recent interview. At least the script is being worked on though. (Comic Book Movie)

Some very early set pics featuring a zombie torn World War Z have already surfaced. It’s good to see the production moving along quickly. (Shock Till You Drop)

For those of you not yet prepared for the zombie apocalypse, a deal a day site has this awesome zombie survival kit, equipped with survival gear, a Twinkie, and your choice of either machete or pistol grip crossbow for about thirty dollars shipped. Frank Darabont is very, very talkative about this season of The Walking Dead, and seeing as how we’ve got another five months before we get to witness such an awesome television show I’m okay with that. (Daily Blam)

Well after a long run of good luck World War Z eventually had to be cursed as well. It seems that Matthew Fox and Ed Harris, the two most recent additions to the cast, are no longer going to be able to star in the film. (Vulture)

That Dead Island trailer that made the world go insane actually won the Gold Prize for Internet Film at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Let’s hope the game delivers as much as the trailer did. (Kotaku)
