So it looks like AMC is giving the green light to the Talking Dead, a talkshow style series that will air after each episode of The Walking Dead where media nerd God Chris Hardwick will interview cast and crew about the series and recap the show. (Deadline)

Speaking of The Walking Dead, we’ve got all the details on a new mysterious cast member, a former Rescue Me alum, who’s not a part of the comic book universe. (Daily Blam)

On the heels of their amazingly popular article earlier this year, the CDC has declared October to be Zombie Preparedness Month, and plan to release a lot more undead awareness onto the world that will tie in to real life emergency guidelines. (The Fort Scott Tribune)

After the break, check out the trailer for Zombie Apocalypse, which is Ving Rhames’ third film entry as a fighter of the undead horde. (28 Days Later Analysis)

Apparently in medieval times it was customary to shove rocks into the mouths of the dead so that they would not return from the grave. Even back then people knew the zombie problem was indeed, a factual problem. Check out this archeological video after the break and see how they did things in the early ‘700s. (Huffington Post)

If you think your kids throwing a party while you’re out of town is bad, imagine your daughter inviting over a hundred and fifty bloodthirsty zombies over to completely destroy your home. That’s what one aspiring film maker did while she was shooting the indie flick The Dying Breed. (The Star)

After the break, check out an all new trailer for the upcoming season of The Walking Dead. (FEARnet)

Here’s some nice little behind the scenes videos which were captured during the filming of R.I.P.D. (Dread Central)

Even though a month isn’t a long time to wait for the new season of The Walking Dead to start, we’re going to be treated to a six issue webseries focusing on the “bicycle girl” from episode one of the show. It starts October 3 and will be directed by new showrunner Greg Nicotero (Movie Viral)

Brad Pitt spoke to the press over the weekend and denied rumors that he saved an extra’s life on the set of World War Z. He’s still pretty awesome though, so don’t worry. (Entertainment Weekly)

Milla Jovovich might as well be credited as the marketing manager on Resident Evil: Retribution. She’s dropped even more hints and facts as to what the new movie will be about. (Dread Central)

Visceral Studios, the satellite company that brought us Dead Space, has closed the doors of it’s Australia based office. Is this a case of hard times or EA Games cutting the cord of a studio it’s no longer found use for? (Kotaku)

Quarantined creator Michael Moreci dropped me a line to let me know about a contest he’s running. Basically, all you have to do is buy at least three of the six issues on comiXology (which are a very respectable .99 cents apiece) and send the proof of purchase to Michael. They’ll draw a winner and the winner gets a custom piece of artwork and a hard copy of the book.

After the break, check out this amazing public service announcement which is secretly (it’s not a secret) an animation test for The Goon animated movie, with a star studded voice cast. I’m seriously hoping someone picks this up. (The Flick Cast)

Some lucky London film makers will get a chance to work on World War Z when production hits the UK now that the shoots in Scotland have wrapped. (This Is London)

Here’s  a nice little interview on how zombies are invading Bollywood and Indian culture through movies and comic books. (Bollywood Hungama)

Director Jonathan Levine sits down to discuss Warm Bodies and what he hopes the film will accomplish, which is better than what it probably will accomplish, which is a Twilight meets Night of the Living Dead monstrosity that makes teenage girls no longer fear the undead. (Indie Wire)

Bruce Campbell dishes (through Twitter) about the Evil Dead remake which at this time does not feature an “Ash” character. What. The. Fuck. “All involved love the new approach” my ass. I’m involved, as a blogger and possible ticket buyer, and I ain’t buyin’ it. (Dread Central)

Eaten By Zombies, a collectible card game based on the zombie apocalypse, has gone WAY over the mark on it’s Kickstarter campaign and will be more than fully funded by the upcoming deadline. Good job guys, the game looks great. (Buy Zombie)

After the break, check out the first teaser for REC 3: Genesis which breaks away from the found footage approach and tells how the virus got started, at least in the foreign universe. No telling what the US version of Quarantine 3 will be about. (Fangoria)

We’ve got another image from the upcoming comic book to film adaptation R.I.P.D. This time it’s Ryan Reynolds and the pure awesome that is Jeff Bridges strutting their stuff. (Dread Central)

Here is the official poster for season two of The Walking Dead. That is one creepy ass farm which I am very, very excited to see. (Dread Central)

Personally I’m not a fan of the 30 releases that television shows and movies get on DVD and Blu-Ray these days. Thankfully, I haven’t bought season one of The Walking Dead yet though and seeing this clip (after the break) of one of the all new featurettes has me thinking about picking up the new “collectors edition” on Blu Ray. (Dread Central)

SFX magazine is doing a full one shot issue with over one hundred pages dedicated to the undead and what it takes to create them for the screen. It’s not a bad investment for you aspiring horror directors out there. (SFX)

Indie developer Six to Start have started up a kickstarter campaign to get their new app ZOMBIES, RUN! off the ground. It combines the boring activity of running (which is the best thing you can do for yourself if you’re not already doing it, or so I’ve heard) with over 30 zombie missions complete with stories and items to collect during your run in a virtual environment on real streets. It’s pretty awesome guys. (IGN)

Director Marc Forster sits down to discuss some of the political themes behind the film adaptation of World War Z. (Total Film)

Here’s your first look at Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Bacon (looking very bad ass, I must say) alongside a really, really nice car in the upcoming film R.I.P.D. (Dread Central)

After the break, check out another cool behind the scenes clip from World War Z showing off the panic stricken crowd as it flees the incoming zombie horde. (ShockYa)

It’s cool to see that celebrities aren’t immune to practical jokes. Apparently Matt Damon was so enthusiastic about having zombies in the film Contagion that director Steven Soderberg hired a zombie extra to attack him on set. Let’s hope that clip makes the DVD special features. (New York Post)

While we try to stay out of some topics, we feel obligated to report the news that local Boston clergy was pretty peeved when the crew behind the upcoming film R.I.P.D. decided to film on 9/11 outside the church, which supposedly angered and interrupted remembrance ceremonies in progress. (Herald Sun)

It’s certainly the end times as a virus has been identified in certain caterpillars that cause them to go into a zombie like state, crawling to the top of a tree after eating, to let the sun melt them into goo which then drips down and infects other caterpillars at the base of a tree. I speak for the IZA when I say that’s some creepy shit. (Inquisitr)

As a survival nut, I’m always looking for the next advantage in the zombie apocalypse. I’m pleased to see this dumpster which has been turned into a rather nice home, complete with secure locks, a place to cook, sleep, and go to the bathroom. It even has power and running water. Check out the video after the break and go find an abandoned dumpster to turn into the ultimate portable zombie shelter. (io9)

Producers Glen Mazzara and Gale Anne Hurd, and zombie lord Robert Kirkman sit down to discuss season two of The Walking Dead and answer some important questions. (FEARnet)

Colin Salmon, the guy who got sliced into toothpick appetizers in a laser room in the first Resident Evil movie, is apparently back in the latest film. I have no idea either… (Bloody Disgusting)

Dead Island, like all new games released these days, is already set to make some easy cash with downloadable content that realistically should have been in the game to begin with. That’s not a comment on Dead Island specifically, just new games in general. I hate to rant, but I’m sick of a game which already costs $60 at launch costing me another $30 three months after it’s initial release. Here’s a pro tip kids… Wait a year, just wait a year, you can do it, and then buy the game with all of the DLC for about $40. (Buy Zombie)

Live in the Denver area and want to show off your zombie skills while possibly making minimum wage? Well a local amusement park is hiring zombies and holding auditions from now until September 25. (9 News)

FINALLY someone has spoken up about Frank Darabont, The Walking Dead, the future of the show, and Darabont’s possible future on said show. That person was Robert Kirkman. (Fangoria)

Speaking of The Walking Dead, the television show is set to dominate at Spikes 6th annual Scream Awards with six nominations while the comic book is nominated twice. (Buy Zombie)

While we can’t embed the trailer (thanks Kotaku) we can tell you that the new trailer for Resident Evil: Revelations on the 3DS appeals to the 13 year old boy in all of us. It features a new female character who’s got a bigger middle cleavage area than Power Girl. (Kotaku)

Cory sent this to me today and I had to share it with you all. If you’ve got a small child then you don’t have to worry about their safety in the zombie apocalypse, provided you read them a copy of the new soon to be best selling children’s book That’s Not Your Mommy Anymore. (io9)

Okay, I technically have no idea what this cool zombie twitter video is promoting. I’m assuming it’s for a studio trying to get their name out there. It’s really cool though, and does a good job of pulling a World War Z style (the book) approach to storytelling through social media like Twitter and YouTube.

After the break, check out this cool behind the scenes special effects tutorial for the upcoming film A Little Bit Zombie. (Buy Zombie)

John Malkovich, best known for, well… Being John Malkovich, is the latest actor to throw his hat into the Twilight meets Night of the Living Dead movie Warm Bodies. (Hollywood Reporter)

Dead Island was already off to a rough start before it even shipped. Then it shipped a broken early production copy of the game to Steam users making it even more unpopular. Now it seems that in that broken copy, the main female lead has the ability to do extra damage to male characters in what the game called (but later renamed) “Feminist Whore” mode. Good job guys. Deep Silver has already thrown the blame on a third party developer to try and soften the blow. (Kotaku)

Apparently Polish zombies aren’t too keen on being given the same insults as their living brethren. This trailer for Wataha shows just how angry and deadly they can be. (Dread Central)

So at this past DragonCon they had a big Walking Dead panel, mostly filled with third party cast, and the kid stars. What was interesting is that eight separate times before and during the panel, they made a point to tell the audience that no questions about Frank Darabont would be allowed or answered. It’s strange to see how AMC is handling this through silence. Check out the (long) video after the break and judge for yourself. (io9)

Greetings undead lovers! I’m back from a weekend camping trip on an island that was not full of zombies and I’m ready to bring you some great news.

In the mood to kill yet even more time at work on the company internet? If so, you should check out The Last Stand – Union City, a browser based side scrolling action adventure zombie survival game that’s not too shabby. (g-hacks)

Uwe Boll, the man who brought us every good horrible movie from the last decade, is back on the case and producing Zombie Massacre with Marco Ristori and Luca Boni who brought us Eaters not too long ago. It’s based on a 1998 game of the same name that no one played but seems like a good premise. (Worst Previews)

Neal, one of the guys over at Fancy Dress Outfitters who sent us that cool zombie garden shed survival infographic earlier in the year, sent us the latest thing they’ve whipped up, a nice Halloween zombie guide supporting free range zombie death that’s just as informative.

Now because I know you all had a long weekend (well most of you anyway) I’ve put together some good videos to help you unwind after a boring day back at the office. They’re all after the break.

Project Zomboid, the build, craft, survival zombie apocalypse themed game for the PC, has just received it’s first alpha update. You can pre order the game to start playing now and get future updates, much like Minecraft, or check out their demo to see if it’s for you. (GamePro)

After the break, check out the first episode of Transmission, a Florida based zombie web series that has a lot of promise. (Florida Times-Union)

Here’s a pretty awesome trailer (after the break) for More Brains! A Return to the Living Dead, a documentary about the 1985 classic film. (Dread Central)

AMC will air the first seven episodes of The Walking Dead (starting with a 90 minute premiere) in October, and the next six episodes will air in February 2012. I think I speak for all of us when I say WHY!? (Hollywood Reporter)

It’s unknown if this is going to be a new alternate reality game, but the Umbrella Corporation from Resident Evil now has a website. Stay tuned for more on this as it develops. (Buy Zombie)
