You going to be in New York October 8-10? Well, rest assured that the New York Comic Con will have zombie panels aplenty, including panels on surviving the inevitable zombie apocalypse, discussion of zombie theory, a behind-the scenes look at Ugly Americans and a Walking Dead panel with a bunch of the creative types and cast. (Dread Central)

Here in Denver we get a stage production of Night of the Living Dead every year that blends film, theater, farce and zombies (plus a dance number) into one great homage to the classic. I’ve seen it and it is quite enjoyable. (Westword – Show & Tell)

Want a sweet Half Life headcrab zombie sculpture for your home or office? Preorders are happening now… (Kotaku)

There’s a bad-ass new cinematic trailer for the new Left 4 Dead/L4D2 DLC “The Sacrifice.” Can’t embed the fucking thing, unfortunately. Click that link back there. (Kotaku)

Just below the break, you can find a sweet trailer for Red Dead Redemption‘s “Undead Nightmare” DLC. Cowboys and zombies FTW!

Undead Diversion: Adorable zombie stuffy dolls

What’s cute, gory and another way to blow your money on Etsy? This guy! Lately I seem to be finding all sorts of cute-and-cuddly zombie shit — must be something in the air. Anyway, when I heard about a zombie crafter (that’s a crafter who makes zombie stuff, not an undead person who crafts) right here in my hometown of Denver, I knew she’d be this week’s Undead Diversion.

Her name is Corinne Buchholz and she goes by the moniker of mischiefmaker on Etsy and she makes lots of non-zombie stuff, too. But hey, we’re here to talk zombies, damn it. This handsome, bloody chap goers by the name Benny and will set you back $35. She’s got another zombie pal named Melvin, who you cna see after the break, that’s $30. Not bad, considering their hand made. And when it comes to introducing the offspring to the world of the undead at a tender age, is price really an object?

Undead Diversion is your Friday afternoon cool link/video/etc. to help you transition to the weekend.

The Guardian informs us The Waking Dead (TV) is going to be awesome. Of course, we already knew that, but maybe its regular readership didn’t. (Guardian.co.uk)

Did you dig those Star Wars-as-zombie-film posters a while back? Well, creator Matt Busch has a whole site, Hollywood is Dead, dedicated to zombifying pretty much every movie poster you know and love. (Dread Central)

Holy crap, this zombies on TV thing is exploding! Now NBC is in on it, with a spec script for a “fun buddy cop procedural” TV show with zombies called Zombies Vs. Vampires. Bandwagon jumping, much? (Deadline Hollywood)

The first three episodes of Zombrex Dead Rising Sun, the Dead Rising movie, are available for free download via Xbox Live. If you prefer reading about things ot actually watching them, Kotaku has impressions as well. (Kotaku)

They’re working on a prequel film for the videogame Dead Space. Someone named DJ Caruso is directing. (MTV Movies Blog)

Diplomacy. Zombies. Board games. All these disparate elements come together in the new-ish game Diplomacy of the Dead. In it, you play a leader of a region of the world faced with zombiegeddon. As a die-hard nerd who loves me some board games, I’m intrigued. (Critical Gamers)

The utterly crap film Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things is getting a deluxe 25th anniversary DVD release, coming October 19. (Fangoria)

Frank Darabont talks Walking Dead (TV) and reveals his influences, a bit about how he’s shaping and altering the narrative and more. Also, word is Comic Con audience loved the Walking Dead trailer they saw. Lucky bastards. (HitFix)

There’s also a handful of minor Walking Dead (TV) casting announcements. (FEARnet)

And more Walking Dead (TV) news! Season two is a go (already!) with hopes of seeing George Romero (!!!) direct an episode, the composer is Bear McCreary (of Battlestar Galactica) and Walking Dead (comic) artist Charlie Adlard cameos as a zombie. Oh, and a detailed description of the trailer footage. (Dread Central)

And someone shot footage of the trailer, naturally. It’s the worst possible angle, you can barely see WTF is going on and it’s more annoying than awesome, but hey: it exists. At least until the powers-that-be pull it down. You can find it embedded below until then. (Zombie Command)

Also, if you enjoy pictures of people you can sort of recognize sitting behind a table, there are some Walking Dead (TV) cast and crew pictures from the Comic Con panel. (FEARnet)

Or, better yet, a couple of new Walking Dead (TV) production stills! (Dread Central)

And if you liked the Walking Dead poster I mentioned yesterday, here’s some info on how to buy it. (Buy Zombie)

There’s an odd new commercial for Dead Rising: Case Zero embedded below for you. No zombies … just Vegas. Like I said, odd. (Buy Zombie)

Another day, another George Romero interview. This one may be my favorite, as he reveals what he thinks of 3D, the afterlife and what his zombie apocalypse kit consists of, among many other gems. (Philadelphia Magazine)

If you’re looking to hang that Charlie Adlard (Walking Dead artist) Survival of the Dead poster in your home, your dreams have come true and it will only cost you $30. Also, your dreams will glow in the dark, so there’s that. (Ain’t It Cool News)

Robert Kirkman reveals some good stuff about the AMC adaptation of his Walking Dead series, stuff like there’s no gore limit imposed by the network, Jeffrey DeMunn is playing Dale and the show won’t completely follow the plot of the books. (Ain’t It Cool News)

The next videogame from Gearbox Software, developers of the Borderlands videogame (which had a zombie-based expansion), may be a zombie game. They just registered a trademark for videogames and movies called Z-Day, and that sure as heck sounds like a zombie game to me! (1Up)

If you want the special, three-disc (two CDs of music, one DVD of film) version of the upcoming movie The Dead Matter, you will have to venture into a Hot Topic, where it will be exclusively sold. The horror, the horror… Presumably, the regular one-disc edition will be available at other, non-emo retailers. Anyway, the film is about a girl who comes into possession of a relic that allows her to control the dead, which makes her the target of a vampire lord. Sounds suitably ridiculous and it has Tom Savini. (Fangoria)

Probably no surprise to anyone, REC 2 pulled an R rating for American theaters. (Bloody Disgusting)

The App of the Dead social media sites and website are live. (Dread Central)

Ford is using zombies in its advertising for the Fiesta. I’ve embedded the commercial below. (Dread Central)

Scientists. When they aren’t busy with science, they apparently make zombie games for the iPhone. (Kotaku)

The cover art for the zombies-at-a-Star Trek-con novel Night of the Living Trekkies is available for viewing. (Zombie Command)

Within a thoroughly disheartening story about 3D tech at Cannes come the especially disheartening news that apparently Taurus Entertainment is working on a 3D remake of Day of the Dead. Because the last remake (also from Taurus!) was such a great idea… (Variety)

Chillingo has a new, cartoony, tower-defense zombie iPhone game called Zombie Wonderland coming out. There’s a trailer embedded below.

Boris Kodjoe, of Resident Evil: Afterlife, is interviewed about his role, his roots and more. (FEARnet)

Speaking of Resident Evil: Afterlife here’s your ticket to a boatload of coverage, starting with an interview with director/writer Paul W.S. Anderson. That piece also links to a set report, interviews with a producer, effects guy and the two lead actresses.  It’s a RE bonanza! (Shock Till You Drop)

Writer Chris Roberson explains how I, Zombie, coming May 5 from Vertigo, is a different kind of zombie story. (Newsarama)

Some people up in Seattle set a world record for number of zombies at a single gathering last August. Then some people in the UK beat them. Now Seattle is trying to take the crown back this July 3. The goal this time is 8,000. (The Big Blog)

Germany’s action/suspense TV channel 13th Street has some very cool zombie stationery. (Dread Central)

Broken Springs is another indie zombie flick on the way. Very little info thus far, just that it’s about three teenage boys, some tainted moonshine and zombies. While that sounds frighteningly like Redneck Zombies, the clip you’ll find embedded below looks good for this kind of no-budget zombie romp. (Bloody Disgusting)

If you are in Chicago this weekend, you could attend C2E2, where a panel with Quirk Classics (that’s the folks behind Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) is happening Friday. (Dread Central)

Zombie Command has the story behind the making of Jumba Juice, a no-budget indie short zombie film. Part one is here, part two is coming tomorrow. (Zombie Command)

Brooklyn gets five George Romero films in two days (May 15-16) at BAMcinématek. The zombie flavored ones are Night of the Living Dead, Survival of the Dead and Creepshow (review here). (Fangoria)

Contrary to what I’d heard before, I Sell the Dead does have some extras on DVD/Blu-ray. Those include commentary with stars Dominic Monaghan and Larry Fessenden, commentary with director Glenn McQuaid, making-of featurette, effects featurette and a trailer. (28 Days Later: An Analysis)

Fallout Boy Pete Wentz plays a glowing-green-eyed zombie in the video for the Ready Set song “Love Like Woe.” Warning: song is obnoxious and the zombies are pretty meh. Still, the video is embedded below and Spin has the story and some behind-the-scenes pics. (Spin)

If you ever need any glow-in-the-dark zombie pets, rest assured that such a thing exists. (The Dead Walk)

Check out the inside scoop on Plague, a short film about the horror that occurs in the interim between being bitten by a zombie and turning into one. (Fangoria)
