In Ugly Americans, a social worker with a zombie roommate tries to help monsters integrate into normal life in New York. There’s a trailer embedded below, io9 has a few more clips and a more detailed synopsis. (io9)

A super-duper limited edition T-shirt and poster/print featuring an image of the Tarman zombie from Return of the Living Dead went on sale today. They’re by artist William Stout and they’re pretty spiffy. $25 for the shirt, $40 for the print, save $10 if you get both. (Dread Central)

Xbox Live players of Resident Evil 5 can play the latest DLC “Desperate Escape” today, PS3 players will have to wait until tomorrow. Alternately, you can wait until March 9 and get the Gold Edition which has all the DLC bundled. (Kotaku)

A new horror-comedy film called Deadheads, about a pair of zombies that “awake” during a zombie outbreak and decide to go on a road trip to seek one’s lost love, has just ebntered the post-production phase. (Bloody Disgusting)

It looks trashy, cheap and sure to insult your intelligence, but it does have boobies — it’s Zombie Women of Satan, and there’s a NSFW clip embedded below. (Bloody Disgusting)

The cartoony art for the UK DVD/Blu-ray release of Survival of the Dead is out. (DVD Active)

My favorite zombie things

Posted by Cory Casciato On February - 4 - 2010

Today is the one-year anniversary of the site! So, to celebrate, I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite zombie things — the stuff that I use, look at or think about every single day. I’m not going to cover my favorite movies, books or games here — those are amply covered in other posts and each of those categories is probably deserving of its own dedicated list. These are the other things — the little zombie accoutrements, ephemera and oddities that make every day in the Casciato household a zombie day. And consequently, many of the things that make my fiancée a little crazy (she does not love zombies).

If you loved Zombieland and can’t wait to get your hands on the DVD you can get a sneak peek at the deleted scenes and special features. (Dread Central)

If you’re in the Pasadena, California area, there’s a zombie art exhibit you should check out. (A World on Fire)

You can’t ever have enough zombie survival tips, so enjoy this fairly comprehensive guide to surviving a run-in with the undead. (Mahalo)

With the motto “If you’re going to make a movie in your backyard, then make it an EPIC!” Italian Zombie Movie sounds promising — at least for those of us that appreciate the occasional backyard epic zombie movie. (A World on Fire)

Coming tomorrow on DVD is a sci-fi zombie apocalypse called Biophage. Bio-chemical agent, zombie-like “biophages,” the usual. (28 Days Later Analysis)

Zombie westerns seem to be popping up everywhere lately — Dead Walkers is just a short, but the trend seems to be picking up steam. There’s a trailer embedded after the break. (28 Days Later Analysis)

It looks like Dead Rising, one of my favorite zombie games of all time (review here), is set to become a  live-action movie directed and co-written by Keiji Inafune, the same man behind the original game. See the unsubtitled Japanese trailer, embedded after the break. (Kotaku)

Speaking of the franchise, new info on Dead Rising 2 confirms you will be able to combine things via duct tape to make new things. So, kayak paddle + chainsaws + duct tape = paddlesaw! (Kotaku)

Learn more about the faux documentary Portrait of a Zombie, about an Irish family coming to grips with the zombification of their son, in this interview with director Bing Bailey. Also, Bing is an awesome name. (Reel Loop)

Kids need zombies, too, so buy your little one a zombie coloring book. (A World on Fire)

Amongst this week’s DVD releases is the Canadian weirdo zombie flick Pontypool. I’ll be picking it up asap. (Quiet Earth)

The iPhone version of Plants vs. Zombies has been pushed back (again) until mid-February. (Kotaku)

The Moline, Illinois library is having a meeting of the zombie survival club Saturday, February 13, in case you’re in town and need to learn some tricks. (Quad-Cities Online)

Simply reading about Division 9, Irrational Games’ zombie FPS/strategy game that never was, makes me want to weep for what could have been. Base-building, strategic elements and shooting zombies in the face from the team that brought the world the fantastic BioShock? Seriously, I’m crying that this was never made. There’s a great-looking trailer too, but the embeds don’t seem to be working. You can see it at the link, though. (Game Informer)

You need some zombie arts and/or crafts? Try the Little Shop of Zombies. (A World on Fire)

If you are in Wilmington, North Carolina and want to be a zombie in a commercial, your chance has arrived. (StarNews Online)

You’ll have to wait a little longer to get your next Resident Evil film fix. Yesterday, a report had it that Resident Evil: Afterlife may get pushed back to January 14, 2011 from its current slated release of August 27, 2010, to give the filmmakers more time to complete the film’s 3D and CGI effects. Now it is official. (Shock Till You Drop)

LA gets a screening of Silent Night, Zombie Night on December 19 at the New Beverly Theater, with the filmmakers and actors on hand to do the Q&A thing. (Dread Central)

They’re kind of cheesy, but you might get a kick out of these Star Wars series goes zombie” fan art posters. (Coreplanets)

Speaking of cheesy: zombie Disney characters. (Zombie Command)

After the break, check out a trailer fro Astro Zombies M3: Cloned, an upcoming indie horror effort from Ted V. Mikels.

Denver does zombies

Zombies in love

Zombies in love

I’m proud to say that my hometown of Denver, Colorado is quite a zombie town. We just had our fourth annual zombie walk (more than 4,000 attendees, if reports are to be believed) and, the very same day, there was a zombies’ engagement party.

What? Zombies need love, too.

Well, it turned out the zombie engagement party was actually an art show, but since it was largely horror and zombie themed art, it was still awesome. And I got some fine photos of both the party and the zombie walk. You can see some of the best of them, including a video slideshow of the zombie walk, after the break.

Don’t read it unless you’ve already seen Zombieland (we’re talking major spoilers here, folks), but io9 has an interesting piece on celebrity cameos that didn’t make the cut and some background on the brilliant one that did. (io9)

Learn all about what went into creating Zombie Survival Guide Recorded Attacks, the graphic-novel entry in Max Brooks’s popular living dead series. (Fangoria)

If you don’t already know about Left 4 Dead 2, you will soon — Valve is planning a $25 million advertising blitz.  (Kotaku)

Enjoy this story on excellent zombie illustrator  and author Rob Sachetto. He does zombie portraits, including mine and he has a new book called The Zombie Handbook out. (The Sudbury Star)

Sorry about the delay in getting this posted — technical difficulties intruded. Mainly, that I am technically a dumbass.

The top-down shooter Zombie Apocalypse is coming this week. Xbox Live players can grab it Thursday, September 23, PlayStation Networkers will have to wait until Friday, September 24. (Kotaku)

Part two of a set visit to hardcore gay zombie-porn epic LA Zombie has arrived. (Fangoria)

If there is a REC 3, as was hinted recently, Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza won’t direct this time out. (Bloody Disgusting)

Enjoy this report on zombie-themed shooting targets. Way more fun than a clay pigeon. (Horror Squad)

Musician Eric Weiss of the band Zombie! (a fun, kind-of-Misfits-sounding horror rock band) reported today on Twitter that Rob Zombie’s lawyers have sent him a cease-and-desist notice insisting he stop using the name Zombie! and selling merch with that logo, lest people be confused. Needless to say, this is complete and utter bullshit — Rob Zombie does not get exclusive use of the word zombie and his lawyers need to be eaten by ambulatory corpses if they can’t see that. When a guy comes along calling himself Rob Zombie or another band tries to jock White Zombie (itself STOLEN from an historic zombie movie, I might add), then they can get their lawyer on.

The folks at Fangoria have a bunch of stills and a few details from the cleverly named short film Paris by Night of the Living Dead. (Fangoria)

I’m a fan of poster art (rock concert posters, old movie posters, etc.) and I am totally taken with this print done for the Alamo Drafthouse’s Night of the Creeps showing. If it were up to me, my house would be decorated solely with this sort of stuff. (Fangoria)
