Details on Dead Rising 2’s crafting system emerge: you can’t just combine any two things, but there will be lots and lots of combinations for mad-science types to experiment with. (Kotaku)

In other Dead Rising 2 news, there’s a bit more info available on the prequel/prelude Dead Rising: Case Zero. Namely, it won’t be free (drat!) but will be “accessibly priced” and give us a good sense of DR2’s gameplay. Oh, and it will be out “significantly” before Dead Rising 2’s August 31 release date. (Zombie Command)

A self-aware zombie tells it from his point of view in Brains: A Zombie Memoir coming May 25 from Harper Collins. (Zombies & Toys)

Is anyone surprised that almost half the entries in this “best chainsaw moments in horror” list are zombie related? No, because zombies and chainsaws go together like gin and tonic. (Bloody Disgusting)

If launching zombies out of a cannon to break shit sounds like a good time, grab your iPhone and get ready to download Zombie Cannon Carnage. Well, not quite yet, it isn’t out yet. There is a trailer, which you can find embedded below. (Zombie Command)

If Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick get their way, the movie could yet become a TV series (that’s what it started out as, by the way). I would be okay with this. There’s a video interview with the duo after the break. (MTV Movies Blog)

Casting rumors for AMC’s TV adaptation of Walking Dead alert! Three names emerge, including the dude who plays Jacob on Lost. I vote for him. (Big Shiny Robot)

There’s a new Dead Rising 2 gameplay clip making the rounds. It looks a lot like the original game, which is comforting. You can watch it after the break. (Kotaku)

The faux film poster for the new Left 4 Dead 2 DLC “The Passing” is out. And you can get some more details on how the whole scenario fits into the Left 4 Dead 2 story. (Kotaku)

Spain brings us a zombies vs. crooks movie in Dead Dogs. First image looks promising! (Bloody Disgusting)

The first DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 is coming in late March. As was previously reported, it is called “The Passing” and it concerns a meetup between the four survivors from the first game and the four survivors from the second. In the DLC we’ll get a new type of common-uncommon called the fallen survivor, a zombie that used to think they were immune, but weren’t. They will apparently occasionally drop supplies. Also coming are a comic book that should reveal more of the story and an add-on for the original game that will fill in the gaps of how they ended up in the sequel’s DLC. There’s also a bunch of screenshots if you like looking at things. (Kotaku)

Remember that 3D, animated Night of the Living Dead prequel called NotLD: Origins? Yeah, still happening and an image of Ben has been released. (Dread Central)

There will be a special, Xbox 360-only prologue to Dead Rising 2 called Dead Rising: Case Zero. Word is it takes place in the time between the original game and the new one. It should be out right before DR2 is released August 31 (in North America anyway). (Kotaku)

Contrary to reports yesterday, PC gamers will get a chance to kill zombies in space with Dead Space 2. Maybe. (Kotaku)

News on DoubleBear’s still untitled zombie RPG is scant, but if you’ve got the time, there’s a wealth of information to be gleaned from this forum. (Iron Tower)

Because putting any two unrelated good things together must be even better, no matter how ridiculous the combination, there will be a game called Rock of the Dead. You know, like Rock Band. With zombies. (IGN)

If, for some crazy reason, a Resident Evil special edition of Monopoly sounds like a good idea to you, who am I to argue? (Kotaku)

It looks like Dead Rising, one of my favorite zombie games of all time (review here), is set to become a  live-action movie directed and co-written by Keiji Inafune, the same man behind the original game. See the unsubtitled Japanese trailer, embedded after the break. (Kotaku)

Speaking of the franchise, new info on Dead Rising 2 confirms you will be able to combine things via duct tape to make new things. So, kayak paddle + chainsaws + duct tape = paddlesaw! (Kotaku)

Learn more about the faux documentary Portrait of a Zombie, about an Irish family coming to grips with the zombification of their son, in this interview with director Bing Bailey. Also, Bing is an awesome name. (Reel Loop)

Continue to build anticipation for Zombieland with this account of a press junket for the film. (Dread Central)

A bunch of info hit today on Dead Rising 2. Seems it’s set in part of some kind of zombie-killing game/reality show. Details are still unknown as far as the single player campaign, but IGN has a multiplayer preview and says its “American Gladiators meets Night of the Living Dead.” WTF? I don’t know how I feel about this… There’s a trailer and some gameplay vids after the break — and I have to admit, the pitchfork-shotgun in the single player video is just awesome. (IGN plus Giant Bomb and Zombie-o-matic for additional vids)

And Kotaku got into the question of duct tape in Dead Rising 2. Apparently, there’s a lot of it. They also have a screenshot gallery with some plot speculation and a brief hands-on preview. And more video. Ye gods, enough already! (Kotaku)

There’s an upcoming book called Zombies: A Record of the Year of Infection and io9 has a preview. Or you could just skip straight to the publisher’s preview and read a few pages. (io9)

That Resident Evil 5 director’s cut mentioned yesterday is going to support some fancy-ass new PS3 motion controller. (Kotaku)

The HD-DVD version of Deadlands 2: Trapped has been delayed until November 27. (Shoot for the Head)

It’s nearly a month old, the sound and music are sketchy and it looks pretty rough, but maybe, just maybe the teaser trailer for the new George A. Romero zombie film embedded after the break is real. The comments indicate it’s some kind of internal work-in-progress reel, and I think I recognize one of the actors from another Romero film (he’s known to like to re-use actors) so maybe this is real… It’s worth a look anyway, and you can do that after the break. (Thanks CG user demoniotto for the tip)

If you like your zombie movies extra-stupid and possibly offensive, you’re going to be thrilled to hear that Retardead comes out on DVD today. I’m pretty sure that title tells you all you need to know about this one. (Dread Central)

Yesterday, I posted my wish list for Left 4 Dead 2, then I saw this early preview of the game. Shit, looks like I am getting most of my wishes (incendiary ammo? sweet!) … but not all (although the new Charger boss looks plausible given the existing menagerie, and I can accept a Witch that walks around). And there’s some stuff I didn’t dream up that we’ll be getting, too, like dynamic weather. (Rock, Paper, Shotgun)

Fangoria has some screens and details from Dead Rising 2 and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles. (Fangoria)

Zombie toy collectors will be thrilled with this upcoming limited-edition zombie figurine from FearWerx. They’ll be available first at the MonsterMania Convention in Hartford, Connecticut. (Dread Central)

Finally, the second annual Zombie Movie Marathon Month kicked off in fine fashion with Dead Set last night (review here). Starting tomorrow, I will be posting ZMMM Dailies, with the Zombie Movie Marathon Month tag, for easy tracking. Don’t forget that possibly authentic Romero trailer after the break.
