The hyperkinetic “parkour zombie” film Devil’s Playground gets a new one-sheet and a premiere date of October 3 at the UK’s Gorezone Film Festival. (Dread Central)

Washington, D.C.’s Spooky Movie International Horror Film Festival announced the low-budget zombie flick Colin as one of its programmed films this year. It’s barely news and it’s barely zombie, but now you know that there’s a spec script floating around Hollywood about an American family’s visit to Taiwan during the time the dead can walk the earth. It’s by Kai Yu Wu, it’s called Fractured Souls and the pitch line is “The Grudge meets The Others.” I guess they’ll be walking around in bodily form, which is what makes it kinda-sorta-almost zombie. The previously untitled Double Bear-produced zombie survival RPG has a name: Dead State and you can read a lot about what’s in store. It sounds awesome. (Rock, Paper, Shotgun)

Some new, ludicrous details have come to light about what you can create to kill zombies in Dead Rising 2. How about a lightsaber? This game will either be ridiculously awesome, or just plain ridiculous. (Ars Technica)

The Guardian informs us The Waking Dead (TV) is going to be awesome. Of course, we already knew that, but maybe its regular readership didn’t. (Guardian.co.uk)

Did you dig those Star Wars-as-zombie-film posters a while back? Well, creator Matt Busch has a whole site, Hollywood is Dead, dedicated to zombifying pretty much every movie poster you know and love. (Dread Central)

Holy crap, this zombies on TV thing is exploding! Now NBC is in on it, with a spec script for a “fun buddy cop procedural” TV show with zombies called Zombies Vs. Vampires. Bandwagon jumping, much? (Deadline Hollywood)

The first three episodes of Zombrex Dead Rising Sun, the Dead Rising movie, are available for free download via Xbox Live. If you prefer reading about things ot actually watching them, Kotaku has impressions as well. (Kotaku)

Valve is making some adjustments to Left 4 Dead 2 multiplayer to make it less likely to induce “rage quitting” among players. Good for them. (Kotaku)

A classic premise gets a fresh twist in the zombie apocalypse flick Dead Genesis, about a documentarian following a group of zombie hunters to make a propaganda film. There’s a teaser trailer embedded below — the makeup looks a little rough, but the idea holds promise and Dead Genesis is a great name. Frank Darabont talks Walking Dead (TV) and reveals his influences, a bit about how he’s shaping and altering the narrative and more. Also, word is Comic Con audience loved the Walking Dead trailer they saw. Lucky bastards. (HitFix)

Season two is a go (already!) with hopes of seeing George Romero (!!!) direct an episode, the composer is Bear McCreary (of Battlestar Galactica) and Walking Dead (comic) artist Charlie Adlard cameos as a zombie. Good news! The World War Z movie is still on and Brad Pitt is attached to star. Also, Zombie Survival Guide and ZSG: Recorded Attacks have also been optioned. It’s a franchise! Supposedly the first one (WWZ) is still being directed by Marc Forster and is coming fall 2012. We’ll see. (MTV Movies Blog)

Before settling on Las Vegas as a setting for Dead Rising‘s sequel, the original plan was to set Dead Rising 2 in Disneyland. Also, you can download Dead Rising: Case Zero on Xbox Live (only) August 31 for $5. (Kotaku)

The official website of Resident Evil: Afterlife is live. I thought it had already launched, but I don’t have the patience to go through my news posts to find it at the moment.
