It looks like the fine folks behind the REC franchise have licensed their property to the video game world but not in a way we’d hope for. The first REC game which will be a first person shooter will debut next year on the smart phone (android, iOS) devices for about $3. (Bloody Disgusting)

Zombie Godfather George A. Romero sent in his personal letter of support to the fundraiser to save the iconic location used during the filming of Night of the Living Dead. It’s good to see the original creator support what I feel is a worthwhile cause. (The Republic)

Every other piece of news I have today is a video, and you can catch them all after the break.

The team that brought us that AMAZING Left 4 Dead fan film earlier this year is seeking funding to make a full feature film. As it’s copyrighted material, all funding will go towards the film itself and it will be made free once released. Smart move guys, and good luck! (Buy Zombie)

So the Evil Dead sequel that’s actually a reboot and written by someone who has NO BUSINESS writing horror is going to be about a drug intervention and apparently a kid will just “read the book of the dead” because kids know how to read ancient forgotten text. I hope Bruce Campbell can save this movie. (Bloody Disgusting)

After the break, see The Walking Dead showrunner and special effects wizard Greg Nicotero give us some helpful hints on quality makeup effects this Halloween. (Buy Zombie)

The author of Warm Bodies, soon to be the first true zombie romance movie with a wide theatrical release, gives a few tips for dating the undead. (FEARnet)

Valve is once again asking its rabid fan base to do the impossible. If 60,000 people complete the re-release of “Dead Air” then they’ll ship the next map out early for Left 4 Dead 2. (Kotaku)

While the teaser image was really entertaining, here’s a few more actual details for the upcoming video game based on The Walking Dead. (Dread Central)

The most important thing about zombies is that they give back to the community. These zombies organized a walk for charity and donated food and money to the Fredericton Food Bank. (Daily Gleaner)

If you’re looking for a good way to spend the next ten to fifteen minutes, here’s the entire set of pictures and video from season two of The Walking Dead that’s currently available. (Examiner)

Speaking of The Walking Dead, after the break check out this amazing fan made teaser trailer for season two. Kirkman and Gale Anne Hurd have actually confirmed this to be fan made, for all of you who doubt it. Let’s hope the creator ends up with a job at AMC. (Dread Central)

Frank Darabont is very, very talkative about this season of The Walking Dead, and seeing as how we’ve got another five months before we get to witness such an awesome television show I’m okay with that. (Daily Blam)

Well after a long run of good luck World War Z eventually had to be cursed as well. It seems that Matthew Fox and Ed Harris, the two most recent additions to the cast, are no longer going to be able to star in the film. (Vulture)

That Dead Island trailer that made the world go insane actually won the Gold Prize for Internet Film at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Let’s hope the game delivers as much as the trailer did. (Kotaku)

If you’re going to be in my hometown for Halloween, the Nashville (TN) Rescue Mission will be holding a “Zombie Buffet 5K” October 29. (Buy Zombie)

We’ve got a few details on “The Curea zombie film being shot by local students at the University of Miami. (The Oxford Press)

With every bit of good news for World War Z it seems like there is a mountain of bad news that comes with it. After yesterday’s news that a studio has stepped up to co-fund the film with Paramount, it seems like that offer comes with a hefty catch. John R. Leonetti, director of such flops as Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and The Butterfly Effect 2 will be on a short list to direct the film.

Yakuza: Of The End is a zombie game we’ve covered in the past. However it’s just been brought to my attention that in the game, there are several special types of zombie that blatantly rip off the villains gallery in Left 4 Dead. Check out the images and judge for yourself. (Kotaku)

In what is the weirdest science news I’ve seen in a long time, a fungus is slowly turning rain forest ants into mindless zombies, causing them to then carry the disease back to their nests or simply go walk off a tree. (Daily Mail)

After the break, check out this cool featurette for The Walking Dead called “From Comics to TV” and see how the seemingly impossible was done. (Fangoria)
