The Guardian informs us The Waking Dead (TV) is going to be awesome. Of course, we already knew that, but maybe its regular readership didn’t. (Guardian.co.uk)

Did you dig those Star Wars-as-zombie-film posters a while back? Well, creator Matt Busch has a whole site, Hollywood is Dead, dedicated to zombifying pretty much every movie poster you know and love. (Dread Central)

Holy crap, this zombies on TV thing is exploding! Now NBC is in on it, with a spec script for a “fun buddy cop procedural” TV show with zombies called Zombies Vs. Vampires. Bandwagon jumping, much? (Deadline Hollywood)

The first three episodes of Zombrex Dead Rising Sun, the Dead Rising movie, are available for free download via Xbox Live. If you prefer reading about things ot actually watching them, Kotaku has impressions as well. (Kotaku)

They’re working on a prequel film for the videogame Dead Space. Someone named DJ Caruso is directing. (MTV Movies Blog)

Diplomacy. Zombies. Board games. All these disparate elements come together in the new-ish game Diplomacy of the Dead. In it, you play a leader of a region of the world faced with zombiegeddon. As a die-hard nerd who loves me some board games, I’m intrigued. (Critical Gamers)

The utterly crap film Children Shouldn’t Play with Dead Things is getting a deluxe 25th anniversary DVD release, coming October 19. (Fangoria)

Read an interview with The Walking Dead (TV) cinematographer David Boyd about the similarities to Westerns, Firefly (which he also worked on, a great sign!) and other great tidbits. (AMCTV)

Zombie TV is the Next Big Thing, apparently, as SyFy has its own zombie series, called Zeros (Zombie Extermination and Removal Operations), in the works. This one tilts toward comedy. (Dread Central)

The first Resident Evil: Afterlife TV spot is floating around the webs (and TV, of course). You can find it embedded below.

Some footage from Italian TV has leaked for Dylan Dog: Dead of Night and it appears the movie does, indeed, have some zombies. Yay! Also, attractive, young Italian women seem into Dylan Dog, so all you zombie nerds that have a hard time meeting women should think about becoming fans. The master of zombology Dr. Dale Seslick (of How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse) gets his interview on and talks about zombie pets, zombie misconceptions and the benefits of the zombie apocalypse, among other topics. (Total Sci-Fi Online)

Just caught word of The Night Shift, a horror-adventure-comedy indie film about an undead cemetery watchman, his limbless corpse companion and the zombies and other beasties he has to fight. Sounds fun, and there’s a poster to look at, or you can visit the official The Night Shift website. (Dread Central)

Although the undead have nothing to with the movie, as far as I can tell anyway, you can get some zombies in your Scott Pilgrim vs. the World videogame with a “secret” controller code. There’s a video explaining it embedded below. (Edgar Wright Here)

Frank Darabont talks Walking Dead (TV) and reveals his influences, a bit about how he’s shaping and altering the narrative and more. Also, word is Comic Con audience loved the Walking Dead trailer they saw. Lucky bastards. (HitFix)

There’s also a handful of minor Walking Dead (TV) casting announcements. (FEARnet)

And more Walking Dead (TV) news! Season two is a go (already!) with hopes of seeing George Romero (!!!) direct an episode, the composer is Bear McCreary (of Battlestar Galactica) and Walking Dead (comic) artist Charlie Adlard cameos as a zombie. And someone shot footage of the trailer, naturally. It’s the worst possible angle, you can barely see WTF is going on and it’s more annoying than awesome, but hey: it exists. At least until the powers-that-be pull it down. You can find it embedded below until then. (Zombie Command)

Like planning ahead? Well, zombies in Saugerties, New York will be zombie crawling October 16. There are plans for a videographer to document it, prizes for the best dead celebrity look-a-like, the best executed zombie and best pin-up zombie, and lots of boozing. Mmm, booze.

If you are going to San Diego Comic Con you must not miss the awesome Walking Dead panel Friday July 23 at 11:30 a.m., with most of the cast, director Frank Darabont, creator Robert Kirkman, effects guy Greg Nicotero and pretty much every other goddamn important person on the show, They’ll be talking, answering questions and, oh yeah, showing an exclusive preview! (Dread Central)

Max Brooks (The Zombie Survival Guide, World War Z) does another great, must-read interview. So go read it. (Onion AV Club)
