Rumor has it that Michelle Maxwell MacLaren, whose directing credits include Breaking Bad and the X-Files, will direct an episode of The Walking Dead‘s first season. (Arrow in the Head)

In the upcoming movie Sam Hell, a rotting zombie head speaks telepathically to a man and convinces him to do murder. It’s just signed a distribution deal with Anthem Digital and will premiere at a film festival in Livermore, California this September. (28 Days Later Analysis)

Remember the girl in Frozen? That’s Emma Bell and she’s the latest addition to The Walking Dead‘s TV incarnation. She’ll be playing a “college student who seeks safety with the remaining survivors after the zombie invasion” but no name is given. Another new character? (Variety)

In other Walking Dead news, IAE Magazine is reporting IronE Singleton (The Blind Side) has been added as a character named T-Dog (possibly a renamed Tyreese?). (IAE Magazine)

The special features and DVD details for the collaborative remix project Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated have been revealed. Expect short films, alternate scenes, commentary by Jonathan Maberry, making-of commentary and lots more. You’ll be able to pick it up and see a panel about it Thursday, July 22 at San Diego Comic Con. (Dread Central)

The cast of AMC’s The Walking Dead continues to expand. A recent podcast interview with cast member Linds Edwards (playing a character named Leon Basset who is not in the books) revealed Jim Coleman (American Gangster) is playing another non-book character Lambert Kendal. If you listen to the whole podcast, there’s a lot of background on Edwards and a few minor tidbits from the show. (The Walking Dead Podcast)

There’s a trailer embedded below for the downloadable Dead Rising 2 prequel story Dead Rising 2: Case Zero. The trailer looks good and the game is coming soon to Xbox Live. There’s also a new trailer for the main game. (Dread Central)

The Nintendo 3DS handheld is getting its own chapter in the Resident Evil franchise, called Resident Evil: Revelations. No details yet, but the screens look nice. (FEARnet)

The Mormons-as-zombies movie Book of Zombie is done and making the festival rounds. It just premiered at STIFF (Seattle True Independent Film Festival) and won an audience award. (Bloody Disgusting)

More zombie Western movie goodness incoming in the form of The Dead and the Damned. The trailer shows a cowboy looking dude, an Indian looking dude, some possible prostitutes, lots of zombie/mutant looking freaks, guns, horses and a glowing meteorite. It’s set during the gold rush and some miners find a meteor that turns people into mutant zombies! The movie premieres Monday July 19 at Another Hole in the Head film festival in San Francisco. The trailer embedded below or you can see it much tinier and get a partial cast and crew list at the official website.

The UK stage show How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse is getting a sequel, How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse:Reloaded, and a book, Dr. Dale’s Zombie Dictionary: The A-Z Guide to Staying Alive. (Zombie Command)

The “zombies at a bachelor party” movie Stag Night of the Dead has a release date. It’s coming to VOD August 31 and DVD October 31 (in the UK at least, not sure about US release). (Zombie Command)

Ain’t It Cool News got its hands on some cool on-set pictures of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Plenty of zombies and a shot of a man (Grimes, presumably) on horseback. They’ve also got the first official shot of Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes. (AICN)

The so-called Zombie Girl (aka Emily Hagins, the teen who made the zombie movie Pathogen and was the subject of the documentary Zombie Girl: The Movie) is looking for some help funding her third feature, which she hopes to finish before she finishes high school. Man, I barely finished puberty before I finished high school, much less three feature films… (Horror Squad)

I missed it too, but apparently if you input the Konami code (UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, ENTER) into Newsweek‘s site yesterday, it revealed an ongoing zombie invasion. (The Zed Word)
