It’s a great day for you gunslingers as it was announced that Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, the zombie dlc released for the popular game, will be available as a standalone disc, with no previous game purchase required. (Kotaku)

Lots of good news about Collapse, the zombies-in-Iowa siege film (see our previous Collapse coverage and more previous Collapse coverage). Co-director Jason Bolinger reports via Facebook that the film is cut and is in the midst of color correction, and that it’s scored a composer (Vincent Gilloz) and signed with a producer’s rep company to help sell the film. Danny Boyle took some time to correct a few rumors and stated that he would love to direct 28 Months Later, but he is completely booked until 2012. (io9)

EA Games has dismissed any fears that Dead Space 2 will be purely action packed and promises that it will contain just as many fear-inducing moments as the original. (Kotaku)

Zombies get ready to invade the peaceful south during a zombie walk in Gadsden, Alabama on Saturday, October 16. Then you can catch a stage production of Night of the Living Dead several times between October 22 and 30. (Gadsden Times)

Breaking news for the day is that zombie(esque) master Danny Boyle will return to his rage-infected universe to direct the third installment of the 28 Days series. (Dread Central)

There’s a metric ton of Walking Dead information thanks to the amazing panel(s) at NYCC ’10.

What’s better than zombies and comic books? How about comic books based on existing franchises battling it out with the undead! I’m the new guy and I’ll be bringing you the daily feed, tackling the up-to-the-minute news of the unyielding undead and providing the occasional review as well. I’m very happy to be here and glad for this opportunity to address such a vital matter of national importance as the inevitable zombie apocalypse. It’s a sad day for collegiate English professors and fans of the undead as it was just announced that director David O. Russel has walked off of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, due to scheduling conflicts with Natalie Portman. (New York Magazine – Vulture)

Wentworth Miller (former Prison Break star) discusses role similarities and the challenges of playing videogame icon Chris Redfield in Resident Evil: Afterlife. (Metro News)

You going to be in New York October 8-10? Well, rest assured that the New York Comic Con will have zombie panels aplenty, including panels on surviving the inevitable zombie apocalypse, discussion of zombie theory, a behind-the scenes look at Ugly Americans and a Walking Dead panel with a bunch of the creative types and cast. Here in Denver we get a stage production of Night of the Living Dead every year that blends film, theater, farce and zombies (plus a dance number) into one great homage to the classic. I’ve seen it and it is quite enjoyable. (Westword – Show & Tell)

So, Dead Rising 2 is out now! And here’s the second part of the an interview with Dead Rising 2 producer Josh Bridge. (Fangoria)

A couple of “behind-the-scenes” (and I use that term loosely) videos about Barry Levinson’s zombie-making sea-critter movie The Bay (aka Isopod) have found their way to the Internetz. None of it’s too exciting … some stills of where it is shooting (South Carolina) with music playing in one, some hicks talking about it filming in the other. There’s also some casting info. Gamers, rejoice! Zombie shooting co-op modes are officially confirmed for Call of Duty: Black Ops. (Kotaku)

The fancy-pants new Nintendo 3DS will get Resident Evil: Mercenaries, a game that takes several bonus modes from RE 4 & 5, turns them all 3Dified and spins them off into a standalone game. (Kotaku)
