Filming for season two of The Walking Dead is well underway and we’ve got the latest reports on road closures in Georgia as the cast battles the undead horde. We should be getting recognition from the state for these public service announcements. (Marietta Daily Journal)

Want to see Quarantine 2 for free before it hits DVD? Well Fangoria is making that happen, but you’re gonna have to jump through a few hoops and send them an e-mail. (Fangoria)

Neal Wilkinson, one of the minds behind Fancy Dress Outfitters, sent us an e-mail to let us know that they’ve got a nice zombie survival toolkit infographic to promote their upcoming zombie costumes. It’s not really news, but it looks cool and if you asked them nicely they might sell you a print for your wall.

Helen Grace with Left Films also dropped us a line and a link to the trailer for UK fright flick Cowboys and Zombies (or The Dead and the Damned as it will be called in the US) and to let us know it will be out on DVD late July or early August, depending on which side of the pond you live on. Check out the trailer after the break.

Robert Kirkman finally stopped teasing us and unleashed the first picture from season two of The Walking Dead to his twitter fans. (Hollywood Reporter)

It seems that War of the Dead, another in a long line of Nazi zombie movies, will actually see a 2011 release. Check out the teaser trailer after the break. (Quiet Earth)

OMG NEWS! It’s been a huge news weekend and with the E3 show going on there’s a lot to cover, so I’m going to split things up into a few groups at times. Also all videos, as always, are after the break, just so I don’t have to keep typing it.

There was a ton of good news that came out of the E3 show just these last couple of days.

The Walking Dead has also been tearing up the internet as season two moves into production.

There wasn’t a shortage of movie news this weekend either.

And to wrap things up with a little humor, that awesome CDC article about zombie preparedness (which we reported day one, because Cory is just that awesome) has become so popular that it actually crashed the CDC blog last week. (Your Daily News Fix)

After the break, check out the entire three part epic that is Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story. It’s a kickstarter funded musical a-la Doctor Horrible and it’s pretty damn good. (Wired)

I guess the one good thing that comes from a movie utterly failing at the box office is that it gets a quick release onto DVD in an effort to recoup some lost profits. In related news, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night will be available on DVD and Blu-Ray July 26. (Fangoria)

Based off of this news report, it seems like this season of The Walking Dead will be filmed primarily in Georgia just as it was last year. (The Citizen)

The Springfield Shakespeare Project summer festival (say that three times fast) is throwing a curve ball at classic theater and taking a note from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies when they perform Hamlet vs. Zombies: Something is Rotting in the State of Denmark this year. (News Leader)

It’s officially June now, and that means that the fourth annual Zombie Movie Marathon Month is underway. Tonight Cory and I are going to be watching La Horde on Netflix instant watch. Looking forward to letting you know how it goes, along with several other films, on this weekends epic return of the Inevitable Zombie Podcast.

Here’s a nice write up describing some lucky Oakland University students who got to play a minor part in the filming of the latest zombie flick Detention of the Dead, which is billed as The Breakfast Club meets Dawn of the Dead. (Daily Tribune)

Marti Noxon, known for her awesome writing on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has recently been called in to do a few rewrites on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I for one am glad this movie finally seems to be in good hands. (Cinema Spy)

Indie zombie movie Highway 91 is now available for purchase on DVD. Don’t expect to see it in your local movie rental kiosks any time soon though, this sale is strictly through the film’s website. (Dread Central)

Frank Darabont, the producer of The Walking Dead, discusses some concern over rumored budget cuts for the upcoming season of the extremely popular show. (Dread Central)

We’ve got a few shooting details for the Connecticut based zombie film Remains which begins production in June. (The Day)

We’ve got pictures and news from a zombie crawl that took place Memorial Day weekend in Brooklyn. Actually, more than one source reported on this. (Gothamist, CBS Local)

Here’s a nice photo gallery from a zombie beach party that took place this past weekend at Ashbury Park. (Ashbury Park Press)

Phoenix Comic Con has been a volcano of awesome news, most notably (for us) was the zombie beauty pageant that took place during the convention. (State Press)

Kevin Bacon told the press that he is a huge fan of the zombie genre in all media forms during an interview for his latest movie X-Men: First Class. (USA Today)

After the break, check out the trailer for Ace the Zombie, about a recently infected member of the undead who’s fighting for his civil rights. (Dread Central)

The box art for Dead Island has finally been released after previous concepts were recalled due to graphic images. The new one is pretty graphic too but doesn’t have a zombie hanging from a tree. (Dread Central)

The Walking Dead is currently casting Hershel Greene, his daughter Maggie, and farmhand Otis for the new season of the popular zombie show. I guess that means season two takes place on Hershel’s farm. (Bloody Disgusting)

The popular Wii shooter House of the Dead: Overkill is coming to the PS3 using the new “move” controllers and promises a high definition, extra bloody, zombie shooting good time. (Kotaku)

First off, I want to give a warm welcome to all the new readers that found us through twitter since “zombie apocalypse” started trending. I’m glad twitter trends finally proved useful. You’ll love it here, we promise.

Second, I just want to direct your attention to Cory’s post regarding the Fourth Annual Zombie Movie Marathon Month which takes place in June, just two short weeks away. We’re pulling out all the stops and it’s going to be awesome.

Now on with the news…

Cannes has been giving zombies a lot of love this past week, and another movie we’re excited about is Infected. While the title seems as generic as possible, the premise is actually pretty cool. It’s about zombies (and Michael Madsen) but they’re not undead. They’re aware of what they’re doing, they just can’t control it. I’m keeping an eye out for this one. (Dread Central)

After the break, check out yet another Cannes hit in the short film series, a fun little zombie themed claymation movie. (Kotaku)

We’ve got a few more production updates and some rather peaceful images from the upcoming movie REC 3: Genesis.  (Bloody Disgusting)

While the title is too long and upsets me (it has nothing to do with Romero or Princesses), I’m still obliged to share the first official trailer (after the break) for World of the Dead: The Zombie Diaries 2. (Dread Central)

Jon Bernthal (Shane) from The Walking Dead chimes in with a few quotes regarding the new season coming later this year. There’s some major spoilers if you haven’t read the comics yet. Also if you haven’t read the first six issues of The Walking Dead comic book series, go buy the first trade after you finish reading today’s post. (Fangoria)

Cory sent me a link to an article from The A.V. Club (which is his awesome day job btw) which contains a good review and summary for Wild Zero, a rock and roll horror movie featuring the Japanese band Guitar Wolf. It’s a good read so check it out. (The A.V. Club)
