The DVD and Blu-ray details for Dead Snow (review here) are out. You’ll get five featurettes detailing various aspects of the filmmaking, some outtakes and the theatrical trailer. (Dread Central)

Its existence was news once previously, but now we have a rough timeframe for the release of the Jane Austen-free prequel to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. The book, called Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls, will be out in March 2010. (Dread Central)

How much abuse will it take to kill that Tank in Left 4 Dead 2? Here’s a handy chart to figure it out. (Kotaku)

Fast zombies invade a church in the Danish short feature Opstandelsen. Teaser trailer embedded after the break. (Quiet Earth)

Yet another microbudget zombie apocalypse is on the horizon. This one is called Transmission and it spins a tale of four survivors who follow a radio transmission in search of refuge. The trailer, which is embedded after the break for you, looks well put together despite the obvious budgetary limitations. (Beyond Hollywood)

A second season of Sharehouse Zombie Apocalypse is on the way, and to think I didn’t even know about the first! Its tagline, “A web series about housemates, zombies and toilet paper.” probably tells you all you need to know. (Sharehouse Zombie Apocalypse)

Finally, after the break I’ve embedded a humorous short film that takes an unusual look at the attitudes of two zombie apocalypse survivors. And don’t forget, no more news updates until after the new year. Happy New Year!

The Wild West gets all zombified in Rotten, an ongoing series written by Mark Rahner and Robert Horton and illustrated by Dan Dougherty. The series looks at current events through the lens of a zombie Western thriller. Kind of makes me wish I had the resources to follow comic books. (Comic Book Resources)

The people of FEARnet ran down their top nine music/horror things of ’09 and Chickenhawk’s zombie apocalypse video for “I Hate This … Do You Like It?” made the list, giving me a goo excuse to embed the video again. Which I did, after the break. (FEARnet)

Be a nun, wield a scythe, kill zombies in medieval times in Twin Blades on Xbox Live Arcade. (Blend Games)

Speaking of Left 4 Dead 2, if you can’t get enough of the Midnight Riders, the fictional rock band from the game, you’ll surely enjoy their new song “All I Want for Christmas 9is to Kick Your Ass)” and you can find it embedded after the break. (Kotaku)

Sure it’s a few years late, but NPR realized that the Zombie Survival Guide is awesome. (My Guilty Pleasure)

I’m sure you all noticed I took a few days off for Christmas. Hope you missed me, but not too much. There will be regular updates tomorrow and Wednesday, but then  I’ll be off again until after the new year. Then everything’s back to normal, and I’m going to do my best to start 2010 by getting a lot of non-news content up as well.

Looks like we’ll be getting an animated adaptation of Gil’s All Fright Diner, a story that pits a vampire and werewolf duo against zombies in an apocalyptic battle. DreamWorks is running the show, Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris are set to write, adapting a novel from A. Lee Martinez, and Barry Sonnenfeld is slated to direct. Could be fun, could be retarded. We’ll see. (Bloody Disgusting)

More details emerge about Dead Space 2 in a video interview, which I embedded for you after the break. (Game Informer)

Ireland returns to the zombie well with Portrait of a Zombie, a microbudget film about a Dublin family caught up in the zombie apocalypse — and what happens when one of them turn but they insist on keeping him in the family. There’s a teaser trailer after the break and it looks pretty damn good. (Quiet Earth)

Even Gawker is pondering the question of why we love zombies. The real answer, which they overlook, is that zombies are awesome. (Gawker)

In case of zombies, you could do worse than these “in case of zombies” emergency kits. (A World on Fire)

A few details, including screenshots, from “Desperate Escape,” the next batch of Resident Evil 5 DLC. In summary, Jill Valentine and Josh Stone make a desperate escape from a Tricell facility. (Kotaku)

The Mormon/zombie micro The Book of Zombie is delayed into 2010, and they really need help from an AfterEffects wizard who would like to donate his/her time. (A World on Fire)

I think it’s old news but it’s cropped up a few places recently so I am willing to reiterate — the excellent Pontypool will be available for DVD purchase come January 26, 2010 (there’s images of the cover art at the link, if you want to see what you will be spending your money on. You can already rent it from Blockbuster, by the way, so there’s no need to wait to see it. (Dread Central)

It won’t be here until spring 2010, but the first DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 has been announced. It’s “The Passing” and it unites the survivors from the new game with the survivors from the original. You also get a new co-op mission, play mode, gun, melee weapon, uncommon-common zombie and lots more, so it sounds to be substantial. (Steam News)

Character actor Thomas Haden Church will star in the upcoming FEARNet horror-comedy webseries Zombie Roadkill, from Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures. It’s about a cursed road that brings the dead back to life. There’s a squirrel. (Tubefilter News)

If you can’t get enough Shaun of the Dead, you’ll dig this Shaun-themed photo shoot with Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright. (Total Film)

Word is that zombie author Z.A. Recht (Plague of the Dead, Thunder and Ashes) has died. (A World on Fire)

A few Dead Space 2 details have emerged. It’s bigger (taking place on a space station, rather than a spaceship, see), has multiplayer and you can float around in zero-g. Presumably it is also less filling and tastes great. (Kotaku)

You can preview the first five minutes of REC 2 online for free. Now personally, I am not a fan of watching chunks of movies disconnected from the whole so I can’t vouch for it. But because I aim to please, you can find it embedded after the break. (Horror Squad)

The good people of Zombie Command have found some really cool and unique zombie t-shirts. Check them out. (Zombie Command)

If you like books, but finding reading too hard, you may enjoy this video of author S.G. Browne reading the first chapter of his book Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament. I’ve embedded the video for you after the break. (Zombie Command)

Finally, you can also see a trailer for an upcoming bit of zombie madness called Doomed to Consume

The cover image and details of what’s on the disc for the DVD and Blu release of Zombieland are available. The movie is coming home February 2 for $29 (DVD) or $40 (Blu) MSRP. Special features included a couple of featurettes, deleted scenes and storyboards. (DVDActive)

Looks like there will be a third REC movie and the original directors will be returning. That’s supposedly direct from the horse’s (well, director’s) mouth. (Dread Central)

Unless it isn’t, and there isn’t any REC 3 coming from the original directors, which is what this response to the previous report says. (Bloody Disgusting)

This is real though: Dead Space 2 is officially announced, and Isaac Clarke, the first game’s hero, will return. And he’s probably pissed off, if the typical sequel formula is followed. (Kotaku)

The folks over at Dread Central have discovered Gavin Castleton’s Home, a concept album about love and the zombie apocalypse. I’ve been digging this album for a while now, but haven’t had the time to do a proper writeup. Go see what they have to say, and rest assured I will be weighing in soon. (Dread Central)

If you’re an actor in Tampa, Florida and you have always wanted to star in a zombie webseries, your dream audition just became a reality. (Free Casting Calls and Auditions)
